A combat system based on 3 very different combat systems. I'm sceptical about that, sounds like their just saying what people will want to hear. But, it's the guy behind the witcher so maybe he can pull it off.

The article said...

"The approach to combat is inspired by Dark Souls, Kingdoms of Amalur and Batman: Arkham City, in that it features systems that are simple to grasp but filled with depth."

So it basically means that the fighting system may or may not be anything like the fighting systems in the games mentioned, but will be a system that will have depth to it. No where does it say it's going to be a copy of those three.

It was about 8 in the morning and I hadn't been to sleep when I made that comment so that would probably explain it.

intriguing but they should leave kingdom out of it. imo ds and batman have two of the best combat systems ever but still, they are so wildly different though i cant see how you could combine them. either way, ill bite. let me see some game-play.

Kalowest4419d ago

The FreeFlow and Countering system in both games are awesome; maybe that's what his taking from both games.

Deck13 Says The Surge 2 Next-Gen Patch Might Not Happen, Calls New Project "something fresh"

From GameWatcher: "Developer Deck13 has confirmed once more, responding to a fan question on Twitter, that the project it is currently working on is not The Surge 3.

Aside from The Surge 3 not being in development, Deck13 also cast doubt on the possibility of a next-gen patch for The Surge 2."

That's mildly disappointing, as they had hinted at a follow-up. Still, going something fresh is perhaps the better way to go.

One was brillaint i felt two was a step back, control wise and the story and environments

SamPao1258d ago

I just started it last week. And yeah hasnt clicked yet. The first was really something special

Nacho_Z1258d ago

I didn't really like the first game, it wasn't bad but it didn't work for me. I think they need to stop making not so great Souls spin offs and find their own thing.

IanTH1258d ago

I don't think they need to do a next-gen upgrade, but it would be nice if they could push a quick update to allow 4k60 through backwards compatibility. I'd imagine that wouldn't take a lot of manpower, and really is the more important feature for an action game anyway.

No idea if this is a good thing or not but I'd love to see more games from The Surge series with hopefully a bigger budget.

Chained Echoes demolishes its Kickstarter Goal

Chained Echoes, a 16-bit JRPG to be published by the company that brought The Surge and Lords of the Fallen, has demolished its Kickstarter goal, along with most of its stretch goals. It looks amazing, and the soundtrack plucks those nostalgia strings brilliantly.

What a phenomenal-looking game

Relientk771561d ago

This actually looks pretty sweet.

IanTH1560d ago (Edited 1560d ago )

This is a bit bizarre. The way this was written makes it sound like this game was newly announced, is being actively funded, and recently hit stretch goals. That's not at all the case.

This game was posted to KS around February of 2019. It appears to have hit its funding goal a couple of weeks later, its physical copy stretch goal hit days later, and the campaign ended a few days after that. The KS page, in regards to stretch goals, hasn't been updated since the campaign ended which was, again, about 11 months ago.

I'm all for bringing attention to smaller games - this is being made by what appears to be a solo developer, with Deck13 reaching out to publish after it got some attention - but the way this article was written is kind of puzzling.

This would be much cooler if it wasn’t turn based but more like a secret of mana or beat em up style.
