Borderlands 2 - NVIDIA GTX 680 Tech Demo (Cam)

DSOGaming writes: "In order to celebrate the launch of GTX 680, Nvidia held a party at San Francisco’s Mezzanine Lounge. In this party, the company showcased Borderlands 2 with its PhysX features that will accompany the PC version of it. In addition, the company has revealed an official tech demo for it that can be viewed below. Expect to see a HD version of it in the coming days but until then, enjoy this cam version!"

I'm happy the new games are being built around Nvidia cards and their features. Its good that Nvidia goes the extra mile to make sure that studios are brought on and ready to support.

Sano644424d ago

Nvidia really needs to get more studieos to use PhysX but I guess thats hard with so many games being console ports...

humbleopinion4423d ago

It's even harder with Nvidia blocking their own cards from the ability to use Physx when used together with an ATI card as a primary video card...
I understand why developers don't like this. Vendor locked technologies that block their potential audience aren't worth investing time in

wicko4424d ago

Weren't they demoing the cloth physics with Mirror's Edge? Pushing liquids around seems new though.

john24424d ago

Alice featured liquid physics and interaction as well ;)

wicko4424d ago

So basically none of this stuff is new or exclusive to the GTX 680, unlike what the video would like us to believe..

Still thinking about buying a 680 when they are back in stock anyway.

I still think resistance 3 has the best water effects.

Skate-AK4423d ago

No. R3 water was crap. R2 and KZ3 water was awesome though.

Loving the physx effects. Few wishes though. Hope it isn't as performance eating as Batman arkham city's, which was so unoptimized. Hope it isn't made with the old rendition of physx, I hope it is made with the same one displayed at GDC. And finally, I hope it doesn't take a 680 to run like they recommended, I'm hoping the 2 560s I have will run this at 1080 with the physx. I'm fine giving up some AA if i can. Overall though it looks great and I'm very excited now! The physx looks better than Batman's when you consider the cloth dynamically rips, and they went for the fluid dynamics as well. Might be one of the better pc games this year if they do it right, which they said they would, courtesy of a letter from claptrap.

Mythicninja4424d ago

so does this mean the game will look like crap on my AMD6950 card?

NYC_Gamer4424d ago

Nah,it just won't make use of the Nvidia only features.

Mythicninja4424d ago

Good to hear. Features have never been a deal breaker for me

iamgoatman4424d ago

Maybe not like crap, but probably not relative to the cards actual potential performance. The first Borderlands was incredibly Nvidia biased, and judging by this I'd be surprised if the second was any different. Of course you're not going to get PhysX support anyway, but overall performance could be another matter.

I remember the dynamic shadows in Borderlands crippled my framerate on my ATI 5850, to the point when it ran close to my old 8800GT on the same settings, which is just terrible.

Gearbox could prove me wrong though, and I hope they do because I loved the first Borderlands, but I'll be waiting to see some benches before picking up the second.

Plagasx4424d ago

Oh boy, I think this means shitty performance...I fucking hate physx. It only rapes fps.

The Suzuki Escudo Pikes Peak from the Gran Turismo series

Nissan Skyline from Need for Speed Underground

Motorcycle Steamroller from Dead Rising 3

And finally a car you never drive but saves your ass over and over : Honey Badger from COD MW2

Gardenia483d ago

I was thinking of Mad Max. That V8 felt really good to drive around in, especially with upgrades.

No one liked the Batmobile in Arkham Knight. Top 10?

toxic-inferno482d ago

I don't know... It was a strange addition to the game, and the parts of the game where you had to fight in it were tedious. But driving it around Gotham felt brilliant.
