XBLAFancast – Interview with MagicalTimeBean’s Ian Stocker

Josiah Renaudin from our sister site PSNFans recently had the chance to chat with MagicalTimeBean founder Ian Stocker. Ian is the man behind the hit Xbox Live Indie Games SoulCaster I & II and the recent success story Escape Goat.

Josiah talks to Ian about how he got into making games, how the process of making a game for XBLIG works and what might be in store for MagicalTimeBean in the future. [Takuchat] The goat goes on and on and on and on… (Escape Goat 2)

Microsoft introduced a wonderful service with the introduction of Xbox Indies. Early attempts at community development fell flat as the Saturn’s Game BASIC and PlayStation’s Net Yaroze lacked accessibility and distribution to make them worthwhile, but Microsoft was able to provide basically everyone an open door to its hardware. This ushered in thousands of unique titles from the community, and while the majority of XBLIG output was garbage, there were many gems among the chaff.
