EVE Online Is Boring... On Purpose

G4 writes: "Part of it, I think, is that people like boring. Or, well, maybe low effort, maybe low risk stuff. I used to do some of the really boring stuff just because you know that at the end of the road there’s some reward. Trading, for example, is relatively low risk, but you make the money and it feels good. Seeing your bank account go up.

I think that not every game was meant to be Counter-Strike. Not everything has to be twitch action-based, super-intense, in-the-zone, adrenaline rush 24/7. Everybody complains about mining, but I think it’s the finest hangover feature you could ever do. I’d just switch the miner on, I’d watch sports on Sunday and be hungover and eat pizza. I think that’s great. Not everything has to be super wild."

G4 only plays CoD anyways. They think everything is boring unless it's not constantly rewarding you with killstreaks.

Yeah, it's designed that way, the game aims for you, rewards you for everything, and kills for you, arcade shooter for mindless fun, ofcourse if your into stuff like that..

Eve might not reward you straight away, it rewards you in longrun. It's very clishe game, it's not for everyone, but who likes it, it's far from boring. It's a game that rewards you for actually doing something and making effort to achieve it. Your actions have consequences, and you can lose everything with one single mistake.. It's propably one of the most best games ever made, the design is so unique, but very, very "hardcore". I lost insane ammounts of hours playing that game, and just scratshed the surface..

It's one of a kind, and a lone wolf in the current library of games that are infested with more "less boring" games, which to be honest, most bore me to death..

I've never actually played Eve yet, but in a lot of ways it seems like it would be pretty exciting.

The game is not for everyone, EVE is hard, a lot of patience is required, so is rewarding when you achieve something. That is why CCP made a side door to get inside the EVE Universe with DUST 514 as FPS with more action but the same complexity in the package.

Actually, EVE have a popular phrase which is:
"As you play World of Warcraft it holds your hand and gives you a cookie even if you fail; in EVE-Online, the game not only takes your cookie but also laughs at you for bringing one''.

Yeah.. I remember first time entering zero space, it can't be that bad right? lol. It really does hurt when you lose something that you have worked hard on, and the game doesn't care, your just a bug in the universe...

eve takes time but it's the friendliest community an the most helpful community on the planet. the resources they use to yeah like the guided tutorial missions are really top notch.

CCP is making a vampire MMO called World of Darkness. Their goal is to make the politics and sandbox stuff more accessible. This would be perfect for people like myself who are in interested in EVE but too dumb to learn to play.

It's not hard to get into, but there is overhelming amount of content that the game has to offer, and the game doesn't hold your hand. You can do what ever you want, it's double edged sword. Your a microscopic part of a player runned universe, and it's up to you to deside what is your role in it.

I believe there is a trial for testing the game out, atleast was when I started playing it, I suggest checking it out.

I tried it but the combat was hard to learn. I sort of learned it but I found it boring. I wasn't used to playing in such a huge and empty world. There were so many buttons and modules and widgets that I was overwhelmed. I would like to learn how to play so I can be part of those massive scams though. World of Darkness looks like the answer to my problems. :)
