GamerZines Preview - Napoleons Campaigns II

GamerZines - Unfortunately there isn’t any 3D battle engine to speak of, instead skirmishes are auto-resolved with the computer taking in factors such as leader attributes, unit type capabilities, numbers and whether you effectively covered your flanks in pre-battle setup. It reminded us a little bit of Football Manager, as you need a keen eye to spot important attributes for any given General. There’s over 600 historical leaders in the game, so you need to make the most of your national crop to get ahead on both land and sea.

Napoleon's Campaigns II Preview (Strategy Informer)

From Strategyinformer.com: "Another year, another AGEOD game. With the announcement of Napoleon’s Campaigns II, that would mean three games in as many years. Depending on your view of things means that this could be a good or a bad thing, but the advantage of games like the ones AGEOD produces is that it requires little base work once the central engine is in place. As you may have guess, this latest game is about the Napoleonic Wars, a period of history that holds a special place in my heart thanks to that lovable rogue of rogues – Richard Sharpe (played by the legend that is, Sean Bean)".

GRTV: Paradox CEO on death of consoles

Paradox CEO made a bit of noise last week when he predicted that the next generation of consoles would probably be the last one. He expands a bit on his theory in this interview with GRTV, and also discuss how they plan on treating their hit franchise Magicka moving forward as well as the benefits of open platforms (PC/iOS/Android) versus closed platforms (PSN/XBLA).

Console manufacturers and game makers: "Console games are fine and will continue to grow"

Mobile and social game makers: "Consoles are at their end"

Personally: "Don't you guys realize both markets can prosper in parallel? Why are you so close-minded?"

zerocrossing4478d ago

So true.

The reality is more like consoles will just keep expanding into an even more versatile multimedia entertainment device, the same goes for handhelds, I'm expecting the next PS/DS(whatever) to have somewhat of an iPad tablet kind of design/function but maybe adapted for comfort and ease of use when gaming.

Um, who the feck are Paradox?

JsonHenry4478d ago

They make some awesome games on the PC.

zerocrossing4478d ago

HebrewHammer4478d ago

Looks like a dead fetus to me.

At some point I see consoles going the way of the dinosaur. Especially since this newest generation was born into the days of the digital age and are not afraid to game on PCs that have close to photo-realistic graphics for dirt cheap. (years from now when those toddlers are in their early 20s)

Hell, in the future I see your Television set will have a PC built into it capable of playing more advanced games than what we have today. Why would you need a console or a PC? Another option is streaming your games. A certain possibility in the near future. Your cable box, TV, satellite box, all of these things could offer game streaming in the future.

One way or the other it will go away from consoles, away from publisher/devs paying a royalty and having to meet certain standards set by the big 3. If there is a way to make money without having to give it to MS, Sony, or Nintendo it will happen eventually.

I cant believe how they can say consoles are gonna go away.I love consoles and will always buy them so will other gamers.Sony and Microsoft make so much money from them they will not give up so easily.

zerocrossing4478d ago

Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo, Nintendo deserve a mention and are still very much in the game you know.

But I agree, like I said up top if anything they'll just become a more advanced and varied multimedia entertainment device.... Well at least here's hoping.

4real4478d ago

Yeah I forgot to mention Nintendo. Bad thing about Nintendo is when the ps4 and new x box come out the Wii U will be obsolete which is very sad because i grew up playing Nintendo games

zerocrossing4478d ago (Edited 4478d ago )

I really fear for Nintendo, honestly it's not impossible for them to go the way of Sega if they're not careful, fortunately they still have a very loyal and well established fanbase, but it would hurt their cred amongst the core gamers to be lagging 3rd behind again with the tech for another gen
