Diehard GameFAN: 3D Classics: Kid Icarus Review

DHGF: 3DF Classics: Kid Icarus is an updated remake of the Famicon Disk System game rather than a port of the American NES cartridge. It boasts smoother graphics and a new set of controls, along with the 3D visuals you would expect from the title. However, the game has been stripped of the password entry (for cheats) and all of its Easter Eggs, which makes the game a shadow of its former self. Make no mistake, it’s still a very fun game and one most people will have fun with, but I can’t help but wish we had been given a closer port of the NES original instead.

Kid Icarus 3D Classics Review

More than twenty years ago, Kid Icarus was released for the NES and went unnoticed by many, overshadowed by the much more popular Metroid series. In 2012, after Pit’s growing popularity in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Nintendo revived the Kid Icarus franchise by creating Uprising on the 3DS. Alongside the release, the NES original was added to the eshop as a “3D Classic”, a treatment that gave NES games more depth — literally.

New retro themes arriving for 3DS and 2DS

Nintendo of Europe has announced that some new retro 3DS and 2DS themes will be arriving this Friday, on January 23, 2015. The themes include the likes of Donkey Kong, Ice Climber, and Kid Icarus.
