5 Worst Ways Games Copy Movies

360 Magazine: There’s no getting away from it, the younger medium takes its cue from the older. Until then, we have to put up with cliches that were jaw-clenchingly awkward in the cinema, now used in even the most highly acclaimed video games.

I lol'd very hard. And then cried. Cliches are bad :(

Biglet4417d ago

I hate the roaring one. Lonely Island should do a pastiche for this cliche too, because even though it's more commmon in games, film does it wherever it can.

pr0digyZA4416d ago

Mass effect aliens don't speak English, it was explained in the first game, it had something to do with a universal translator.

MySwordIsHeavenly4416d ago

It's a shame this guy hasn't touched a game pre-2005. -_-

"3. Bullet Time

As seen in: Syndicate"

Wasnt this actually in Max Payne games, THEN the Matrix and THEN Syndicate?

Kran4416d ago

Then by that standard, shouldn't this article be ranting at Max Payne instead of Syndicate?

Ranking the Devil May Cry Series

VGChartz's Mark Nielsen: "Upon finally finishing Devil May Cry 5 recently - after it spent several years on my “I’ll play that soon” list - I considered giving it a fittingly-named Late Look article. However, considering that this was indeed the final piece I was missing in the DMC puzzle, I decided to instead take this opportunity to take a look back at the entirety of this genre-defining series and rank the entries. What also made this a particularly tempting notion was that while most high-profile series have developed fairly evenly over time, with a few bumps on the road, the history of Devil May Cry has, at least in my eyes, been an absolute roller coaster, with everything from total disasters to action game gold."

First to last for me...3,4,5,1,2.

VersusDMC10d ago

Me leaving it out should be telling of my thoughts on it. Better than 2 as a DMC game.

Still a good game though.

Exvalos9d ago

What a weird name, it's essentially devil may cry, devil may cry lol

Cacabunga9d ago

Best to good for me: 3, reboot, 1, 5

2 and 4 are trash, didnt like any of them.
5 has very good gameplay variety but i hated the foes.. it is just insects the whole time. Reboot has the best foes for me

Friendlygamer10d ago

3,1,4,5 to me, never played 2. 5 gameplay is amazing but level design was really disappointing to me, just a bunch of plain arenas, the story felt like a worse written rehash of the 3rd and the charater models looked weird ( specially the ladies ). Another problem with 5 was that there was not enough content for 3 charaters so I could never really familiarize with any of them

monkey60210d ago (Edited 10d ago )

2.
Dmc.
4.
5.
1.
3.

God DMC2 was an awful game.
And in case this isn't obvious it goes worst to best

Yui_Suzumiya10d ago

1 and DmC. The rest are unimportant.

DarXyde10d ago

Order changes depending on your focus. I tend to focus on gameplay/fun factor, so...

5, 3, 1, 4, 2.

I really didn't like 4 but commend Dante's weapon diversity. The retreading of old ground was pretty unacceptable to me.

But even then... Still more enjoyable than 2 for me

SeTTriP10d ago

This right here is my order as I thought DMC 5 was amazing and obviously 3 comes after 4 was great and 1 for the nastilgic value it holds 2 was so terrible that my local GameStop gave full refunds to people who returned it.

It's A Crime That There's No Sleeping Dogs 2 Yet

Huzaifah from eXputer: "Sleeping Dogs from the early 2010s is one of the best open-world games out there but in dire need of a resurgence."

LG_Fox_Brazil14d ago

I agree, I consider the first one a cult classic already

isarai14d ago

You say "yet" as if it's even possible anymore. United Front Games is gone, along with anyone that made this game what it is

CrimsonWing6913d ago

That’s what happens when games sell poorly. And I’ve seen people wonder why people cry when a game sells badly… this is your answer.

solideagle13d ago

Majority of the time it's true but if a company/publisher is big (in terms of money), they can take a hit or 2. e.g. I am not worried about Rebirth sales as Square will make Remake 3 anyway but if FF 17 doesn't sell then Square might need to look for alternative. <-- my humble opinion

Abnor_Mal13d ago

Doesn’t Microsoft own the IP now since they acquired Activision?

DaReapa13d ago

No. Square Enix owns the IP.

Abnor_Mal13d ago

Oh okay, Activision owned True Crime, but when that didn’t sell as intended it was canceled. Six months later Square Enix bought the rights and changed the title to Sleeping Dogs.*

*As per Wikipedia

boing113d ago (Edited 13d ago )

Sleeping Dogs was a sleeper hit back then. It was fantastic. It actually still is. Would love a sequel to this, or at least a revive of True Crime series.

I'm Replaying Skyrim (again), and So Should You

Replaying Skyrim after 13 years is a reminder of the progress made in western RPGs over the last decade, but also what's been lost.

anast24d ago

I tried, but it's a poorly made game that insults its customers.

lucian22924d ago

nah, only mods make it decent, and even then it's bad, and this is after i modded for at least 3 years

Nittdarko24d ago

Funnily enough, I'm about to play it for the first time in VR with 1000 mods to make the game playable, as is the Bethesda way
