Tex Murphy - Project Fedora Kickstarter Announcement

Tex Murphy, the amazing and classic FMV adventure game will return and a Kickstarter will be launched in May 15th. The game will be developed by BigFinishGames and will obviously feature FMVs. The company released the announcement trailer and they purposely used the current issue of People to prove that this is the real deal (and not some old footage of an unreleased project). Get ready adventure fans to support this project. It’s gonna be huge!"

Hammiest videogame trailer ever sees return of Tex Murphy

The ‘Tex Murphy’ series provided some of the cheesiest fun of the nineties (and that’s saying a lot for the decade). Designed by Chris Jones, the series follows a private investigator, Tex Murphy, in a post-apocalyptic San Francisco.

The adventure games are all characterised by their extensive use of full motion video and film noir influences. The later games were also considered somewhat technically advanced at the time, for blending FMV with full 3D environments. Of course, by todays standards, they look like the videogame equivelant of a low-budget B-movie. Which is what makes them so great.

The last game in the series, Tex Murphy: Overseer, was released back in 1998; for while it looked like the end for Tex Murphy. After all, in a series like this, there’s always the problem of actors getting too old. Fortunately for fans of cheesy FMV noir videogames, Tex Murphy is making a comeback.
