Blast From The Past: Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time

"Prince of Persia has been around for over twenty years now, having started out back in 1989 on an Apple II computer – and playing out as a two-dimensional platformer – the series latest entry came about in 2010 on all the major formats. Aside from the evolution of graphics from the original’s spectacular rotoscoped animations of series creator Jordan Mechner’s brother, to the more modern looks of polygons and three-dimensional environments, Prince of Persia has stayed true to it’s roots of platforming, puzzling and methodical combat. Out of the many titles in the series, one stands out as not just being the best out of the lot, but also one of the best platformers ever created."

Its sad that Ubisoft just left the Pop franchise to die

Ulf4446d ago (Edited 4446d ago )

Nah, they gave it a decent ending, and laid it to rest as a classic trilogy. The remake, which went with the movie, was never really anything but an attempt to cash in on modern engine technology, and an IP which had run its course.

In the grand scheme of things, the PoP engine became the Assassin's Creed engine, and the next IP was born. It never really "died", so much as changed into something similar, but different. And, of course, AC is far from dead.

ShadyDevil4446d ago

True but I heard they were making another one (PoP) for Wii U. Idk might be a rumor.

dirthurts4446d ago

What about the latest prince of persia, forgotten sands?
That was a great game, and true to the series.
I'm hoping more is on the way. One of my favorite series of all time!

I really liked PoP 2008, but sadly it was way too easy.

Sands of Time had a great difficulty curve with moves that required good timing. The story and characters were good too.

Ubisoft to Focus on "Return to Leadership" in Open World Genre, Expand Live Service Experiences

Ubisoft says they are focusing on two "core verticals," and that's to return as a leader in the open world genre, and live service games.

enkiduxiv6d ago

Calling Ubisoft a leader in open world gaming at any point in time would be like calling Dollar General a leader in retail.

excaliburps6d ago

Well, to be fair, they did pump out good open world games before. It was used as a template so much that people now know what it means when you say it's like an Ubi open world collectahon.

shinoff21836d ago

What though? I can't think of one game they had where I liked anything about it. Atleast since the ps3/360 Gen

Kornholic6d ago

If they have never been the leader in open world gaming, then explain me this: why does almost every open world game follow the same tired old Ubisoft open world formula?

Follow the Leader.

Aphrodia5d ago

YO dont' talk bad about the General. There'll be problems...

You were never the leader bro 🤣

shinoff21836d ago (Edited 6d ago )

I don't think they were ever the leader tbh. I've never really cared for any of their open world games. I do wanna try watch dogs 2 because it looks like it's set in San Fran. Looked interesting

Ubisoft's Recent Antics Have Me Fearful For The Sands of Time Remake

Hanzala from eXputer: "With Ubisoft's practices becoming increasingly anti-consumer lately, the destruction of The Sands of Time Remake looks almost inevitable."

thorstein34d ago (Edited 34d ago )

Hey Ubi, here's a gun, don't shoot yourself in the foot.

*Ubi takes gun, aims at foot, empties clip*

Chocoburger34d ago

At this point, only dummies have any hope left for Ubi-junk games.
