Gaming Blend "Have you grown tired of all the standard-fare medieval-fantasy and sci-fi MMOs out there? Have you been craving something a bit more true-to-life and a bit more retro? Well maybe you need a good dose of an 8BitMMO."
After 14 years of development, free-to-play MMO 8BitMMO sees a release on PC, Mac and Linux
MMOGames writes: "The closest equivalents in the 8Bit world seen thus far would be the Legend of Zelda or Sword of Mana for the Gameboy Advance. As with any other RPG (action RPG in particular), the higher your weapon stats, the more damage you will be able to do. Here’s where we get into the nitty gritty of the game, and it lies in the fact that at some point, if you want to advance, you will need to spend real money."
While most mmos are your standard cookie-cutter fare, there are alternatives worth looking at. MMO-Play presents the top 5 outside the box mmos.
haha that's such a classic RPG line when beginning a new adventure. I know I've played RPGs that start off similar to that on several occasions. The 2 games I could think of immediately are Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past and Earthbound.
