Im in the Beta and it is pretty bad in alot of ways but still has some potential. Im waiting till i get the full game to decide if its really THAT bad.

Things i dont like about it are....

1.) Huge hitboxes

2.) Sticky targeting

3.) No charracter customization other than items

4.) Graphics are sorta washed out but can be fixed with the darken/sharpen mod thank god

5.) Voice acting is down right HORRID it looks like the German Dub is getting better voice actors than the Engish version... Dont believe me? Look at the German Cast...

6.) Shared Magic Find (If you have high MF and your party members have low MF your MF will be averaged with everyone elses meaning your MF is lower than it should be and your party members are higher than they should be...)

It feels more like an isometric God of War than a Diablo game. They took the RPG outa ARPG and it now feels like a pure action game with loot.

I have been in the beta for a few rounds and there is definitely some questionable decision making going on, imo. Ripping out the enchanter, removing ID scrolls (I like this change), adding town portal back, taking out "on field item breakdown", taking out rune drops and making it a leveling system, etc.

It seems like a lot of crazy mechanic changes this close to launch and not all of them have been for the better. They definitely still have some work to do if their internal version is anything close to the current available beta build, which is still quite buggy.

Hell Real ID is still broken and giving out my real name to everyone in game even though it is disabled on my account. They said they know about it and are going to fix it but I definitely don't like that it happened at all.

I have 100s, maybe 1000+ hours in the first 2 Diablo games and I have been waiting for this launch for a decade basically. Now that it is finally here I don't know if they are going to deliver, which is something I have never said about a Blizzard product before.

It will and thats part of the reason the game sucks now. Its because they have been developinbg it from the beginning with consoles in mind.

I look at it like this....

Diablo 1: Great pc game that sucked on console because it was designed for the PC!

Diablo 2: They said screw consoles and made a GREAT PC GAME!

Diablo 3: Blizzard wants a game that works well on both PC and consoles so the PC version will suffer because of this. An example is the horrid obvously console friendly UI, sticky targeting and large hitboxes...

It wasn't, 2 player coop was aggravating to no end, the game was slower and the game more or less needed it's own memory card (10 blocks of 15).

4 player online coop alone means the PS1 version is awful in comparison. Oh and no mouse and all. The ONLY reason someone wants the console version of D3 is because they or a friend/loved one wants to play and doesn't have a PC that can run it. PC games on consoles are like playing sports games without a pad on the PC: Dumb.

We could care less about the memory card... thats not what made the game good and theres no more problem with that. The controller worked well with this game and yes maybe there was 4 players on PC but you could not play on a couch with a friend like the ps1 version..Stop being closes mind.

Is it me or is Blizzard just bloodletting itself?

WarCraft has gone to an MMO. That'd be fine, but with every patch and expansion, it's gotten easier and easier. It's now very noob-friendly.

StarCraft has taken a hardcore RTS experience and made IT more casual (More on this in a bit).

Now Diablo is getting this stupid new treatment. Out with the classic gameplay and art-style and in with the crappy new.

My brother and I love Blizzard. I've been a fan of Diablo (yet I've never beaten either of them...) and my brother has been playing Blizzard games since he was 3 (he learned his alphabet playing WarCraft: Orcs and Humans. He also insulted people by calling them 'orcs' or 'trolls'. Hell, he even mumbled WarCraft stuff in his sleep) and loves the first two WarCraft games, and thinks the third is okay (he recognizes the quality of it, he just doesn't care for it as much). With StarCraft, he's played through the campaign MANY MANY TIMES since release and been very active in the multiplayer as well, even now. With Diablo, he's beaten both games a couple of times each.

But we've both noticed things. I knew that Blizzard wasn't going to do as well when they merged with Activision. My brother, being optimistic, thought it wouldn't affect much. However, he's expressed his disappointment in Blizzard lately. He said StarCraft 2 was very noob-friendly where even I could beat the campaign without a problem (that wasn't an insult, I suck at RTS games) while he still has trouble with a few missions in the original game's campaign. With WarCraft, he's noticed that WoW is, as I said, very easy as opposed to the more hardcore feeling from when it came out.

So, with us both knowing that Blizzard is digging itself a hole (and having no one from the defunct Blizzard North working on Diablo III), I have to ask: Where do they think they're going to go? They've been pissing off many fans recently and all that's going to remain are the blind fanboys.

Basically, what I'm saying over this long and poorly-written comment is that I miss the old Blizzard. Blizzard's fame has gotten to their heads, making terrible deals and making terrible changes to their games. Blizzard, to me, is kind of dead now. With making their games easier to attract a larger audience, they drive out the original audience, myself included.

With that said... RIP, Blizzard Entertainment. 1991 - 2003

lulz, the campaign is your n00b friendly starting point? Warcraft campaign was easy, 1 through 3. Same with SC1, Brood War and SC2. None of those are hard games.

WoW, you got me there although when you talk about something ambiguous like "feeling" I think it's more a case of Azeroth and WoW being one big question mark for what was inside. We know Kalimdor and the Eastern Kingdom like the back of our hands. It's inevitably going to be different and feel different from when we (I) started in 04.

I came to the same conclusion that you're now coming to when they released WotLK. You care too much about something that doesn't matter. I'm glad they slipped up because otherwise i'd still be playing their stuff.

In regards to all Activsion hate: get over it. It's inevitable. If you ever work closely with someone, you'll notice how ridiculously fast you adopt each other's views, start to use the same vocab, and even begin talking with the same mannerisms. It gets to the point where one day you're literally saying the exact same thing at the exact same time in reaction to something that just happened. My point being that as much as they claim to maintain independence, it's not possible. It's like nature vs nurture in psychology. You can say you believe in one over the other, but at the end of the day, you can't say that one is not a factor.

They're part of a greedy evil empire. It has rubbed off on them because it's unavoidable. But their games are still really polished at least. The artwork is still top notch. It's just the game behind it will be more casual focused and money driven.

Oh and the console version of D3 will indeed suck balls just like BF3, starcraft on n64 (lol) and warcraft on ps1. The only way it won't suck would be if the pc version was so watered down that they're both really mediocre.

The only way to successfully release a console version of a game is to have separate optimized content where you play to the strengths of each platform. Plus you get people to buy both versions of the game because they have different stuff/unique experiences.

So... good news? I'm still waiting for the rest of Starcraft 2. As much as I used to love Blizzard, I've been sorely disappointed by every game they've made in the past decade. I have my doubts as to whether or not Diablo 3 can restore my faith, particularly when all the other developers I've learned to distrust (Bioware, Square Enix, etc.) seem to have made it their mission in life to drive their respective brand names into the ground.
