The Weekly Japan Preview: 12/30 Edition (Star Ocean, big Wii sales)

VG Chartz - 12/31/07:

Weekly preliminary Japanese data for the week ending December 30th, 2007 has arrived, showing boosts for PSP and Wii, but a general decline otherwise.

Rather than saying x game for y platform sold between 20,000 and 28,000 units as in the past, from this point forward, the preliminary data will be broken down into charts by platform. Within these charts, there will two additional categories besides the rounded sales figure under 'sales'. On the left will be 'low end' depicting the lowest amount the title likely sold for the week, while to the right will be 'high end' depicting the highest amount the title likely sold for the week.

As always, this data is preliminary, and therefore, not final, but it is based on a sample. Sales for this report are for the week ending December 30th 2007.

Just getting a little sick of hearing about the wii now. It sells alot. Got it. Does anyone actually use the thing? No. Its like saying, 'hey, the new Celine Dione album just sold 5 million in one week'. "So what?". 'Well it sold alot'. "But its Celine Dion, its crap." The wii is a shallow gaming experience, with quirky mini-games, designed entirely to dangle a buff carrot infront of the casual gamers donkey ass face. But thats where the money is though. However, that is not where the gaming is

I only agree with what you said about Celine Dion. Other than that... no the Wii is great for gamers. I've put in some 20+ hours on Fire Emblem, I have close to 60 stars in Mario, I'm crusing thru RE:UC though it does get a bit hard, Tomb Raider is pretty fun, and Zack & Wiki is challanging my brain. Soon I'll be pluging away on DQ Swords, and dukin it out on Smash Bros, and slicing people in half with buckets of blood in No More Heros. Good stuff manard ^^

being grasped by the japanese, i think these guys just spend their yen to look at the instruction manual and box arts. LOL how the hell does alot of this mediocre crap sell? Mario Party and Mario and Sonic at the olympic games? LOL, Super Robot Wars, Dragonballz? Im sure Lost Oddysey plays better then all of these. This is where i dont get when people think japan is a big market. xbox 360 doesn't need japan, sega proved this with the genesis back in the 16bit days untill they screwed themselves up with the introduction of sega cd 32x and saturn at the sametime.

It also seems Microsoft get's hated on just because theyve been the only successful american videogame hardware and software company.(Atari, Phillips, Panasonic? Need i say more)

IM disappointed in half of the population's taste.

Final Fantasy IV Pixel Remaster Review – An Epic Tale Of Pixelated Portrayals

Gary Green said: We’re finding ourselves in a similar position with the Pixel Remaster edition of Final Fantasy IV as we were with Final Fantasy III since, once again, we’ve received a slightly upscaled, more vibrant port of the original game when there’s already an expanded 3D remake available. As such, we’re playing a game which, even after its long-awaited release, still lives very much in the shadow of its remake.

If only they didn't screw ps4 owners over with a physical release. I'd have ran through this in a heartbeat.

The first one I played, it was the one that made me fall in love with JRPGs and is still my favorite to this day. A masterpiece

Why MW 2019 is still the best looking Call of Duty to date

MW was an excellent videogame. They messed up Spec Ops big time, but aside from this it was a huge step in the right direction initially. Most notably, at launch it seemed to come from a very cohesive creative vision that was felt across gameplay, to story to art style/visual direction. It was also very notably written by prominent ex-Naughty Dog guys that quit almost immediately before release.

That COMPLETELY dissolved through post-launch content and the full pivot to a "cross-mode" narrative that completely obliterated the cohesion in overall story direction. Warzone then "became" the new face of Call of Duty and the franchise completely removed itself from anything remotely creatively "good". It is a pure money machine, so I kinda get why they're doing it....but I personally completely lost interest.

I would love to see Infinity Ward move off CoD and get to make their own product with full control. They clearly have some massive talent in their ranks but it's perverted by Activision's corporate interests.

My top 3 are Mario 3, Mario World and Mario 64. Mario Odyssey is also excellent, and I enjoyed Sunshine but didn't care for the Galaxy series.
