New Castlevania Title in the Works?

"Castlevania: Lords of Shadow hit in late 2010 to moderate success and critical response and since then the Castlevania franchise has been relatively quiet if we ignore the disappointing DLC that Lords of Shadow received. Interestingly however, David Cox, producer at Konami on Lords of Shadow just posted the following image on his Twitter which is also the official Castlevania Lords of Shadow Twitter."

i really hope so. if anyone who owns a 360 or a PS3 hasn't played this yet then i advise you to buy it. (i am a Sony fan so don't shoot me for this) and, YES, it is better than GOW3, apart from a few enormous set pieces of course

Rainstorm814451d ago

I just picked it up off Ebay for 20$ and loving it , now if i can find the time to finish it .

So Many Games , So little time

brish4450d ago (Edited 4450d ago )

I don't know if I would say Castlevania Lords of Shadow was better than GOW3 but they are both excellent games.

If a new Castlevania is made I will be buying it.

I liked the story in Castlevania more than GOW. I also think the world was much more interesting in Castlevania. It didn't feel like a normal place with monsters. The world itself was an integral part of the experience.

In GOW I was constantly saying OMFG when it came to boss fights. The boss fights in Castlevania were excellent but I'd have to give the edge to GOW.

If a gamer misses either of these titles they are missing some of the best games ever created.

LightofDarkness4451d ago

If they do, I'd like more RPG elements (a la SOTN). Make the world much less linear and more explorable, with lots of weapons and bits to collect.

Pokemon_Master4451d ago

not before a new metroidvania comes out on the 3ds......

but I suppose konami japan would be working on that internally

NovusTerminus4450d ago

*Sigh*

Give Castlevania back to the Japanese! This game was not a true Castlevania game!

NYC_Gamer4450d ago

100% agree, brought the game and can't find myself to finish it because the lack of the true Castlevania gameplay/story.

Croash4450d ago (Edited 4450d ago )

That isn't really a valid complain. Just forget about the entire franchise and play the game for what it is. You can't have bought it only because it has "Castlevania" on the cover. And how could you even expect a "true Castlevania gameplay" when the series is mostly about 2D games. The videos and the demo were here to make people aware of the fact that it is a game similar to beat'em all like God of War.

The Castlevania franchise needed something fresh AND praiseworthy.
Lords of Shadow was the immediate answer. But there's still room for 2D "classic" Castlevania games. Just look at Rayman Origins. This is how franchises are supposed to evolve.

Now, of course, if you don't like LoS's beat'em all/platformer gameplay, I can understand that you don't want to finish it. But those landscapes, boss fights and amazing cutscenes shouldn't be missed.
Especially the "after-credits" cutscene. It still shocks me. I just hope they're making a true sequel and not something similar to the two awful DLCs that were released within a few months.

How is castlevania still not with the japanese?

there have been OVER 4 japanese castlevania projects

to 1 western collaboration game remember kojimas team co developed it

Theres a rumor of 1 in dev for the 3ds.

At least as much evidence as this one which isnt much

Lords of Shadow 2 Is Castlevania's Most Underrated Title

From memorable boss fights to chilling lore revelations, here's why Lords of Shadow 2 may be the most underrated Castlevania game.

Gamerking821323d ago (Edited 1323d ago )

Well i enjoyed my time with it and thats all that matters too me, i could not care less what others thought. Please bring 3 out Konami or at least a 1 and 2 remasters.

morganfell1323d ago

Same here. I own it on PS3 and PC and love the title. The soundtrack is amazing and the tone they paint for the character of Dracula with Robert Carlyle's great voice work is perfect.

mrsolidsteel201323d ago

Same here, I’m a huge castlevania fan, have all of the games. Even the remake that was made on the Wii.

And I have the PS3 and PC versions of both games as well.

darthv721323d ago

They look really cleaned up on the xbo through bc. The LoS games are some of my favorites.

Bennibop1323d ago

Have been playing 1 and 2 on PS now and it's definitely better than i remember

FreeckyCake1323d ago

Castlevania: Curse of Darkness is way more underrated than this one

bananacrust1323d ago

it was ok. but the hide and seek BS was some of the dumbest stuff in the world.

moriarty18891323d ago

great game. have it playable on my xbox one thru BC.

rgraf771323d ago

I remember the intro being fun an action packed. Then the game became "OK" with a lame hub system and sneaking around as a rat. The modern time frame levels weren't the great either. Lord of Shadows 1 was much better and I wish they had continued with that formula.

Although being linear, which I wish it wasn't, the first game was absolutely incredible. A mix of old school God of War meets Date's Inferno; I was highly impressed by this title. I heard the sequel was trash so I ever played it but I think LoS was a good example of how a 3D CV game could be.

rgraf771324d ago (Edited 1324d ago )

I was very happy the game was Linear as I hate exploring. The first game was one of my all time favorites and the 2nd game was a total letdown with the lame hub system and stealth sections. Playing in current times sucked too. I wish they would make a remaster of part 1.

magdiellima1324d ago

Good as a game but terrible as a Castlevania. The sequence was even worse.

Terry_B1324d ago

It is a great game, but just like DMC is not a Devil May Cry..this one was not a Castlevania :-)

FreeckyCake1323d ago

Give Castlevania to Igarashi team, and they will nail it as they did with Lament of Innocence and Curse of Darkness.
