Ubisoft Milks Assassin’s Creed Franchise Dry

If you haven't heard by now, Ubisoft has announced Assassin's Creed III. The most interesting thing about this title is its new setting, America during the Revolutionary War. It may turn out to be a fine game. With that all said I have a certain problem with the announcement of this title. Actually, it is a specific problem I have with the entire series. There have been too many Assassin's Creed games developed too fast.

There have been 2 Assassin's Creed games developed quickly. Both are spinoffs. Assassin's Creed 3 is a game that's been in development for 3 years. Doesn't sound too fast to me.

Dark114451d ago

Yeah you keep telling yourself that ..
but it won't change the fact that upi want be another Acti .

DragonKnight4451d ago

You make no sense. How is developing a game in 3 years the same as developing a game in 1? You're complaining because of the release of the games, but then neglect that AC3 has been in development since AC2. How is that the same as CoD? I'd love to see your explanation.

Dragon, COD games are usually made in 2 years not 1, fyi. Though you probably couldn't tell a difference if it were 1 or 2... :)

5 ASSASSIN's CREED games in 5 years = milked

They can call it ASSASSIN's CREED 3 all they want.....but we all know ASSASSIN's CREED 5 is more accurate.

Me personally, I'll just wait for the appropriate $20 bargain bin buy....which, as far as I'm concerned, is where all milked games and franchises should be purchased.

You can't get it through your head, can you? It's a THREE YEAR dev time, longest for any AC game (besides 1, that had like, 3.5). We don't care if it's milked. Do they add a ton of new stuff and BIGGER and BETTER? YUP. New engine? You bet. And WAYYYY more content in EVERY SINGLE instalment.

SneeringImperialist4451d ago (Edited 4451d ago )

Spin-offs that directly contribute to the main story? Yeah they sure are spin offs aren't they pal? Fact of the matter is they have milked assassins creed and whether any delusional ubi fanboys choose to accept that is up to them but its true, look how they lobbed on multiplayer to brotherhood and revelations to justify them rather than just spit out AC3 and be done with it, but they decided to milk our good old italian womenizer friend for some extra money 3 consecutive years in a row.

AtomicGerbil4451d ago (Edited 4451d ago )

The author clearly hasn't researched any details of AC3. If what I have read is correct, this will be a major change from the others. Not only have they spent three years on it, but they've built a new engine aswell.

Whilst I agree that a new title every year can get a little overwhelming, unusually it doesn't bother me so much with Assassin's Creed, especially seeing as I wait for the quick price drop before I buy, or rent in the case of Revelations.

ACIII was announced last year. The story and character was announced last week along with a handfull information that seems you didn't read about.

Ubisoft to Focus on "Return to Leadership" in Open World Genre, Expand Live Service Experiences

Ubisoft says they are focusing on two "core verticals," and that's to return as a leader in the open world genre, and live service games.

Calling Ubisoft a leader in open world gaming at any point in time would be like calling Dollar General a leader in retail.

excaliburps13h ago

Well, to be fair, they did pump out good open world games before. It was used as a template so much that people now know what it means when you say it's like an Ubi open world collectahon.

shinoff218311h ago

What though? I can't think of one game they had where I liked anything about it. Atleast since the ps3/360 Gen

Kornholic11h ago

If they have never been the leader in open world gaming, then explain me this: why does almost every open world game follow the same tired old Ubisoft open world formula?

Follow the Leader.

isarai1d ago

You were never the leader bro 🤣

shinoff218322h ago(Edited 22h ago)

I don't think they were ever the leader tbh. I've never really cared for any of their open world games. I do wanna try watch dogs 2 because it looks like it's set in San Fran. Looked interesting

Ubisoft's Recent Antics Have Me Fearful For The Sands of Time Remake

Hanzala from eXputer: "With Ubisoft's practices becoming increasingly anti-consumer lately, the destruction of The Sands of Time Remake looks almost inevitable."

Hey Ubi, here's a gun, don't shoot yourself in the foot.

At this point, only dummies have any hope left for Ubi-junk games.
