Counterstrike not aiming to copy Call of Duty

Why should it? Its the reason why Call of Duty exist. It was Modern Warfare before there was a game call Modern Warfare, and probably before President Bush made the name Terrorist more popular.

CS is for people that appreciate the THRILL of hardcore gaming over going through life/gaming with their hands held and being pampered.

As long as Valve stays true to hardcore gamers they will have my eternal support.

I think the creators will be able to make money off of it, but these games aren't exactly the "in" for some anymore. What a shame.

CS was popular before the COD craze, and it remains popular now. Whether it'll draw many new comers is debatable, but it's fan base is strong enough to keep the game relevant without having to cater to the 'modern trends' found in FPS games.

From what I've seen of in-game footage of CS:GO it seems they are staying very true to the original CS. How popular it will be as it's predecessors is still a question, but I think it's good they are staying true rather than taking too many q's of other games, especially CoD.

Yea I LOVE mgo it was my first online game. It was and still is the most hardcore online action/stealth/shooter. Too bad it is going offline this summer >_<

I like counter strike. No airstrikes, no perks, no helicopter support and no health regeneration.

No easy kills in this game. COD is for little kiddies.

If I might add, CS is as much arcade shooter as it gets, the difference between it and CoD is that the former requires tremendous skill to be adept whilst the latter is noob friendly. The fact I consider CS as arcade-like is not slander in any shape or form.

Edit: First off, I hate COD. Hated it since MW2. Hell I invented the term "COD = Children's online Daycare". With that now out of the way, here's my question about the "new" Counter Strike:

So Call of Duty invented iron sights and aiming-down-sights? Wtf? How is the game any less hardcore if those were added? Last I checked, aiming down the sights is a legitimate way to aim at an enemy. If you try hipfiring like a fool in a gun fight, and tell me that's realistic, then I'll have to call you a liar. The weight, the recoil, etc has to be managed by aiming down the sights (ADS). technically, hipfiring is even easier, as u can just panic-shoot and spray without having to have pinpoint accuracy. Why anyone would even reference that P.o.S. COD, is bizzare to me. Has nothing to do with good gameplay mechanics. Just cause COD sucks doesnt mean that ADS was invented by them or that it is the cause for why COD (factually) sucks. I would like more precise aiming in Counter Strike. I LIKE the hardcore gameplay, non-regenerative health, lack of auto-assist, etc. But I don't want to be forced to hipfire if a guy is at mid-range. I want more precision.

If you don't agree with me, that's okay, as I suspect that some want the game to not have ANY changes. But don't be the typical brainless n4g fanboy--at least explain WHY it's a bad idea.

I played CS for years and years. Owned a server for almost 5 years...

CS may only have hip fire, but the accuracy achievable with that hip fire is scary. I think I have had more control of where my bullets go in CS than any other shooter. There was no bad net code with bending around the wall bullets. There was no BS... just the skill of popping heads off. I would be completely turned off if Valve added down the scope bull.

Ok fair enough. thanks for being honest. But what exactly do you imagine that ADS (aiming down sights) would do to arm the gameplay? What kind of negative effect would it have? (This is not a trap, I honestly want to know, so that if i'm wrong, I'll know WHY and I can just drop the subject...but until then...)

Also can someone explain this bubbles thing on n4g? I looked up the guidelines but its still mighty strange to me...

ADS promotes camping and slow gameplay. Have you even played DOD 1.6 / Source? EDIT: and CoD ;)

@MistaDonzie - Counter Strike is about fast paced rounds not slowly moving around the maps looking down iron sights.

Adding iron sights would change the pacing of the game and like the title suggests would just be another COD clone if it did.

I'm more excited for CS:GO than any other title this year, and it's great to see them sticking to the CS fundamentals. In CS, there's no ADS because you can crouch for better accuracy and to make yourself a smaller target. And there's also no aim assist, so it takes time to master mid to long range with smg's and rifles- that learning curve is also what makes it satisfying. I also think there's no ADS because CS is also about the strategy and objectives, and the balance of money from round to round, not just kills. Glad the console people this gen will get a chance to see the best of what CS has been to those of us who played the original for years.
