Sadly.. It is only a tech demo & is not taken from any software title currently in development.

But who knows.. We may see Kara star in her own video game in the future. I definitely have to admit.. it makes a fantastic opening for a great storyline. :)

Sure it's only a tech demo, but Heavy Rain had it's own tech demo starring the girl who eventually played Lauren Winter in the game. That tech demo turned out to be a good indication of where Quantic Dream was going with the mood and look of Heavy Rain, and I think this tech demo will turn out to do the same. I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that their next project would be a sci fi game. I can't wait to hear more about it.

The casting call tech demo was for heavy rain and it's the foundation for what the game was going to be. I could easily see this lay the theme of a bicentennial man scifi masterpiece. Kara would probably just be a hidden easter egg in the final game. Either which way, David Cage and his team are geniuses and I look forward to whatever they are making.

Really liked this, found it amazing how QD managed to make me attached to her and interested in her future after a 5 min tech demo. Well done, really look forward to their next project

There is a game in development this is just showing a little preview of the tech to expect in the final game. Sort of how Adobe has a little conference to show off new tools and features which are eventually put into their programs, it's still pretty exciting

Geoff asked if he's currently working on a new game, and david shook his head saying the engine used to power the Kara demo is being used. So they just cant talk about that title yet! but!!! Its confirmed for the PS3 and i'm happy about that!!!

It's specifically says Tech DEMO, and if you saw the interview you would know that it was made purely to be a tech demo, and that there wasn't a game planned for that specific character/concept.

People got all jizzy over Unreal Engine Samaritan Demo, and that was just a display of graphics. This tech demo conveys SO much more than that (emotional/character attachment/stellar graphics on a 6 year old console), so yes, people have the right to get "jizzy" over it.

If you don't like this site, why are you on it and commenting on a game that's on a platform you probably don't have?

Go watch the "casting" video for Heavy Rain, then come back here and try to explain how it wasn't indicative of the mood and feel of the final game. I'm pretty sure I read comments from Cage a long time ago to the effect that Quantic Dream's next game would be in the sci fi genre, and also another PS3 exclusive. Feel free to hate on, but at least try to be informed about it.

Tech demo or not this would be a great game. The 'Am I human or am I just a machine' concept would be a perfect thing to add the HR mature themes to. I could be her trying to be human and being hounded for it or stories about different androids with the same 'defects' as her or it could be a love story or like Matrix or Astroboy where humanity is bias against the androids and machines or her trying to grasp her new found emotions and either descending in to madness or new revelations

@ ExgamerLegends. Yeah despite its epicness it is a little creepy. Especially the part where they were putting her together and tearing her apart. But I wonder who was talking to her. Was it a person or the computer itself? The way the arms kind of hesitated it was almost as if the machine who was building her was contemplating if to put her back together or not.

Oh, maybe it IS the computer making her? At the end the computer realises it's own intelligence and understands that it, as well as Kara, can make an autonomous decision. So the computer keeps her "alive" to prove a point. The "my god" at the end could symbolise the computer AI finally understanding whats really going on. /Techdemospeculation.

I like the whole I want to be alive part with robots when she says she wants to live and is begging you it just speaks to me. I just hope its not like a Terminator type story or a Matrix type story. I really hope this is an RPG and hopefully it comes out by late 2013 or early 2014. I know its a tech demo but even so this type of concept for a game done by Quantum would be a great game to the PS3 library.

Amazing Trailer. Reminds me of the Intro to Ghost in the Shell.

Look at the subtleties in the facial expressions. Like when her eyes roll its not just the eyeball but the muscles surrounding the eye.

That was pretty amazing as a tech demo and I'm not trying to be a dick here but I desperately want David Cage to realise that he's not as deep as he thinks he is and really needs to improve as a writer. Heavy rain was a great idea and I loved the original approach to gaming but the plot and characters were just such a mash of cliches and late night TV drama staples. This too, while it's simply a tech demo, it just implies that Quantic dream are still stuck in a fifteen year old's idea of what 'deep' and 'philosophical' are. The whole, 'Robot learns to think, wants to live' thing is just so sickeningly overdone I... Look.... I know how snobby this sounds but if you really think any of the ideas presented so far in Quantic Dream's games are deep and original, I refuse to believe you are over 18 years of age and/or have ever watched a movie or read a book created before 1990.

So i'm just thinking you're being snobbish for the sake of being one! we know its been explored to death. he never claimed to be original in that sense, but only in that his studio and him are into bring game experiences significantly different than your Gears, uncharted, COD and Mario zelda, FF staples year after year, and by far he's done that with the game design approach with Heavy Rain! it's story isn't original, but it's game play premise was because it largely wasn't done to the extent seen in HR by anything else released prior to and even after.

Just stay on topic and with the theme of what he's saying here.

I was once a "philosophical" 15 year old. Even when I was 15 I knew that every "original" idea was a combination of inspirations viewed from a different perspective.

P.S. Age is not causation of maturity or intellect, only a way to tell how many times you have had the opportunity to learn from previous mistakes.

Believe me Zoyos, I agree with most of that. I didn't mean to suggest age naturally brings maturity, of course that's not true. The guy I'm criticizing for not growing enough as a writer is David Cage and by the looks of the guy he's at least 16. My claim that I can't believe people over the age of fifteen think Quantic dream are providing exciting and deep new ideas wasn't really to be taken literally, it was meant to convey just how much I hate to think that there are supposedly mature gamers out there who aren't as sick of the same old thing as I am.

Of course I also recognise that there's no work of art that isn't mostly a product of it's influences. I'm not demanding every game out there be completely unlike anything we've ever seen before and have no influences. I just think it'd be nice if most games (or at least more than a tiny minority of games) actually had SOMETHING new about their plot and characters.. Look at Half-life 2, the thing basically rips elements directly from 1984, Night of the living dead, Alien, War of the worlds, Star wars etc... But through it's incredibly written characters and original art style it's all transformed into something new and exciting.

I actually think Heavy rain and Indigo prophecy probably had slightly above average stories for videogames, I think they both tried new and daring things. That's exactly why I'm so desperate for Cage to get a little more emotional maturity and originality into his writing. His games have the potential to be mindblowing important artistic experiences, with the great innovations in play mechanics, great technical acheivements and daring ideas. That's why it seriously hurts to see them held back by such cheesy shallow characters and hack writing (the big twist in Heavy rain is literally the most famously overdone twist in crime drama, it's even been joked about years before Heavy rain existed).

It also seriously hurts to see people proclaiming such hack writing 'genius' too. That's why I refuse to accept that these people are out of their mid-teens, because I can handle young people not having such high standards but it's just too depressing to accept that I live in a world in which grown adults actually think such overdone cliche ideas are exciting and are the peak of creativity in gaming.

I was watching the Kara tech demo from Quantic dreams than i start watching Samaritan,Than i put them side by side running and...im sorry David Cage but Samaritan runs over Kara in every aspect.Theres nothing on the Kara tech demo engine that the Samaritan tech demo cant show doing it much better. There are more face expressions showing on that guy lightning that cigar on Samaritan than on the full demo from Kara.Disagree all you want does that are blind by the reallity!

Good tech, but that plot device is ridiculously cliche at this point. In fact, there's a certain sci-fi epic released earlier this week that has pretty much the EXACT same plot device in one of it's side stories. What was the name of that game again...?

That being said, the tech kinda took it to a different level there. Very cool and touching. I'd love to have a sci-fi adventure game from Cage and the gang.
