Tomb Raider Underworld preview and scans from the French PSM3

The French PSM3 magazine has previewed Tomb Raider Underworld:

"All the locations visited and explored in this game will be original. This means that she won't go back where she's been before. The story happens nowadays, and Australia, Easter Island, Rome, the Vatican, Mesopotamia and the Golden Triangle could be on the map. We are also expected one or more underwater level."

"This is the big comeback for the Manor. Completely remade, this mythical place will allow Lara to improve her training and her techniques. Having said that, expect no improvement of her skills during the game: she'll have everything from the start. This is also the place where her new outfits will be available, and there are chances to find of Research & Development room like in James Bond, with all the gear and vehicules."

Im afraid Im not very good at not getting annoyed with trolls. Uncharted is a rare occurrence in games. No game can touch it for a while. Same with GT5. BUT thats because these teams have worked extremly hard to pull of such products.

Just because everyone doesn't have the $ to blow on the graphics engine, doesn't mean that Tombraider will be a bad game.

Hell I bet I could play tombraider one and still be interested. The TR series WAS good, maybe this game will get back into more of the exploring elements, which completely dwarf Uncharted. Less gunplay would be pretty nice as well. I'd hate to see tombraider just turn into a third person shooter.

Uncharted has you feeling like you are in an action movie, and not really exploring too much.

Tombraider 1,2,3 were less of movies, and more exploring.

Tomb Raider hasn't had it for a long time. They really need to pull out all the stops for this one to compete. Maybe they will pull it off. We can hope it will be good and worthy of being mentioned with Uncharted.

I loved Uncharted, but there was simply too much combat in comparison to the exploring and puzzle solving elements. Tomb Raider Revelations and Anniversary did a much better job in this regard, and I hope in the next Uncharted game they tweak the combat/puzzle balance in favor of a little more puzzle solving.

Indiana Jones and the Emperor's Tomb has to be my favorite game in this genre. It had the perfect balance of combat, puzzle solving and exploration (except for the last few levels where the difficulty takes a giant leap upwards).

OMG I love that game! There are were some issues with the camera but beating up Chinese Triads and smacking people with chairs never cease to entertain. Lats I heard there's a nextgen Indy coming out, what happened to it??

I love Uncharted and I plan on buying this game. They share the same genre but gameplay is completely different. Uncharted action elements are a lot better but Lara is the queen ot exploration in a traditonal sense. The ony problem with the Tomb Raider series is pacing and puzzles that often send you back to the previous levels to find a gear/wheel/block and what not.

Anyways, its good to see Lara looking more "real" on the nextgen. The muscle tone is a nice touch.

Am I the only one who is excited about this? Seriously, this is a Crystal Dynamics game and all their previous TR and non-TR games have been great. Plus, TR: Legend and Anni were also really good in platforming and puzzle aspects.
And it's really wrong to compared it to Uncharted because in that game the platforming and puzzle parts are very few and insanley easy while shootout scenes are the main part of game and Gears of Warish. In Tomb Raider, platforming and puzzle are main focus and action is more Max Payneish.
As for graphics, it's unfair to compare these not so highquality scans to a fully released game.

I thought Legands sucked. Everytime they put Lara in modern enviroments the platforming seems extremely contrived. Uncharted share this flaw to a certain extent but when Drake does it looks just a tad more believeable because the game made it looks like he's barely able to make those jumps, where Lara seems to be leaping from building to building like a ninja in a black dress.

hey no knock on uncharted, which IMO should get goty, even though it won't. Tomb raider does still have something left. Legends was pretty good, not uncharted good, but good. The puzzles in legends were a lot more challenging. Are all of you 16 with no jobs and can't afford to buy it? heaven forbid you buy two games in the same genre! lol

I gotta give it to Lara i mean she started this puzzle and treasure hunting without her there won't be UNCHARTED best game for the ps3 and best graphics for 2007 but after playing uncharted and finished it 6 times already more than Mass Effect, i think she should just lay low and let Nathan Drake do the adventure game for awhile.

After playing Uncharted ... no Tomb Raider for me anymore. Drake kicks Lara's a$$
