Turn 10 talks Forza Motorsport 4 update, Forza Horizon and Porsche's series return

Ars: I've been really impressed with the way that Forza Motorsport 4 developers Turn 10 have managed to keep player interest in the game roughly four months after the game's release. The steady stream of DLC has been arriving at the rate of 10 cars a month, and the sixth installment, the Pirelli Car Pack, hits the Xbox Live Marketplace today. I spoke with lead developer Dan Greenawalt about today's DLC and title update, as well as the upcoming return of Porsche cars to the series and the recently announced Forza Horizon spin-off.

Greenawalt said he's been impressed by the extent the Forza community has embraced the series' latest iteration. He chalks up some of the game's longevity to the steady stream of DLC, as well as the monthly rivals challenges, but said he's still been surprised at the way players have repeatedly come back to the game after the release of big titles like Skyrim.

Same here. Forza 4 was my 2011 game of the year and the only car game that keeps me going back to it. I got BF3 UC3 OPRR Skyrim Halo CEA Mario 3DS Mario Kart 7 and Resi 3ds after Forza 4 and I have yet to get to the end of any of them as Forza keeps me going back to it.

On a site where people spout nonsense about things they don't own (either praising or lambasting it as they see fit), why are you surprised? It's as possible that he's lying as it is that he's telling the truth.

It'd be different if he were stating irrefutable facts and people were disagreeing with them. That'd just be stupidity. But people CAN and WILL disagree with opinions. That's kinda why they're opinions in the first place.

I could have come in and voiced my opinion that I don't like Forza very much and that Porsche DLC wouldn't change my mind; doing so would get me labeled as a troll, though. I doubt you'd be in here defending my right to dislike the game.

His opinion is just as important- and, for that matter, unimportant- as anyone else's. So if someone disagrees with him, they have every right to do so. Your bitching doesn't change that at all, so you might as well get over it.

The king of racers and simulators, undisputed highest rated exclusive racers this whole generation with consistent quality from all its games so far, groundbreaking innovations and single handedly escliped the racing market. Forza 5 come next generation will end a certain francise not mentioned due to not hurting feelings of certain individuals.

I'm sorry but GT takes the crown of King of Simulation Racing. I can't wait for GT6.

I had my fair share of fun pick-up-and-play games with Forza 4 though. Not every racing game has to be either simulator or arcade. That's what I like about Forza. It's a semi-sim. It isn't too arcadey that it makes it ridiculous and it isn't too realistic where I'd want to pick up a racing wheel.

I love Forza 4 it deserved more sales but (OPINION) i like GT 5 and i will tell you why its cause of the logi tech power steering wheel its simples amazing. F4 is the better game overall but purely cause of this wheel i love my GT 5 more cause it feels more realistic.

Still Porche's will be nice to have, pretty excited :D

the new madcatz force feedback wheel is looking promising. i agree about the lack of anything affordable for xbox as once you use a wheel there is no going back. what is the point of releasing these great driving games and have no FF wheel option MS?

The highest rated racing franchise this generation on consoles just keeps getting better and better.

Turn 10 really delivered another epic racing sim with the core elements that every car fanatic expects in a racing sim.

Firstly turn 10 have not just given 360 owners 1of the highest rated racing sims this gen, but rather 3 of the highest rated racing sim games this gen with a 4th and 5th on the way, one in which will be an open world game.

Turn 10 have also given each car physical AND mechanical damage to ALL cars, an amazing online community plagued with features that TRUE car enthusiasts expect in their racing sims. Have given an high detailed interior view view in ALL cars. Given DLC with cars that actually MATTER to car enthusiasts with EACH having 10 cars per DLC.

NOW 360 owners will get Porsche AGAN in a forza game, managing to aquire the license from one of the most power hungry companies in the business EA.

Forza 4 is truly the must own game for TRUE car enthusiasts and fanatics. If you don't own Forza 4 you are NOT a true car enthusiast. No other racing sims this gen on consoles offers the number of manufacturers or the selection of diversity in cars than Forza 4.

Forza truly is the best racing sim franchise on the market. Anyone who says otherwise is just loyal to another brand ignoring the truth and hiding their envy.

Umm who cares, you shouldn't be thinking about any new games or new DLC of any sort, I want to see a patch to fix the current game called Forza 4 do you remember that game Turn10 a fix to stop it freezing in the dam loading screen in between almost every other online race, and it's not like it's not known to you guys either you had the same problem in Forza 3. How does a developer transfer the same glitch from FM3 to FM4 what did you do copy and paste some of the code including your dam bugs. SORT IT OUT.

Funny that never happened to me, or any of my friends during an online match in either forza 3 or 4. And I've put entry of hours into it.. Maybe it's your Xbox?

Really! thats funny that is and I'll tell you why becos sometimes it's not me and I have to message the person that doesn't get brought to the lobby during race loading to backout to the dashboard otherwise everyone sits in the lobby completely stuck until he figures it's him that has locked up. Sometimes I've seen idiots probably sitting on the edge of the seat just raring to go waiting for the race to start for over 5 mins.

Love this game. I'm using the Fanatec CSR Wheel and CSR elite pedals and H shifter, all mounted on a Rennsport stand. It is awesome. The updates are just going to make it better.
