No Hope Left For Resident Evil 6?

Might it be time to bring the Resident Evil saga to a conclusion and reboot it for future games? The teaser website for Resident Evil 6 is called nohopeleft.com and whilst there may be little to no hope left for the characters in Resident Evil, it certainly seems the players have every hope of playing new Resident Evil titles for years to come.

The franchise of Resident is largely irrelevant in a gaming landscape already packed full of zombie-blasters and third-person adventures.it would now be best if it were laid to rest once and for all this franchise SHM....

NYC_Gamer4463d ago

Why would Capcom kill off a franchise that sells millions of copies?

RedDead4463d ago (Edited 4463d ago )

I disagree, don't buy it if you don't want to.

Edit-
Oh Fluffy? And what if it's like RE4? I love the way people act as if RE5 will represent RE6. And completely forget about RE4...like it didn't exist and didn't get all those awards etc. I'll buy it either way so long as it's good, I don't care if it's like RE1 or RE4. Just be a good game

And for all the zombie games there are out there, none of them play like RE4-5 do. What RE6 is gonna play like? Who knows? Looks like RE4 with a cover system and some new tricks

fluffydelusions4463d ago

Meh. I'll only buy if it reverts back to RE ala PS1 style atmosphere etc. If it's like RE5 I'll pass.

KwietStorm_BLM4462d ago

I've always been confused as to why people didn't like 5 but loved 4. RE4 was the beginning of 'the change' if you ask me. I don't care about awards or reviews, nothing about 4 felt like Resident Evil to me. lol Las Plataea. Once you move on from the village area early in the game, the atmosphere didn't even exist for me.

King_many_layers4462d ago

@storm.

People hated 5 predominantly becuase of the length of the game, the pacing, the atmosphere and the focus of action over all else.

Re4 could take a person roughly 12 hours to complete if you were playing quite fast. Re5 however could take 3 and a half hours if played fast.

4 actually took it's time introduce you to the enemies and the events that were unfolding. 5 told you the same things as 4 but condensed 2 hours down to 10 minutes. There weren't very many occasions in where you had simply hoardes of enemies in 4 unlike 5 .

The atmosphere never once managed to capture the same feelings that 4 could bring out. There was nothing like the village at night or meeting the regenerator for the first time.

Pacing was the big one for me out of those. I took about 20 hours on 4 just taking my time and about hours on 5.

"I love the way people act as if RE5 will represent RE6. And completely forget about RE4...like it didn't exist and didn't get all those awards etc"

Maybe because 4 balanced out action and horror, yeah it wasn't as scary as RE 1-3 but it still had some scares in there. It was perfect how they managed to equal out the action and horror without over shadowing the other one.

The reason people think RE5 represents RE6 is obvious, it's because from what we've heard/saw so far it's clear that Capcom havent listened to what fans complained about in RE5, instead of fixing the problems they've added onto them.

The Zombies aren't normal Zombies...they still can use guns. The whole gun thing was one of the reasons people wanted Zombies back in the first place.

Co-Op is even bigger now...this kills the horror straight away

Instead of one character, alone survivng we have 3...one of them who is probably just another thrown in character. Why keep adding useless characters we probably won't like, we have the new mercenary, his partner people think is Ashley, we have Leons new partner and Chris new parnter aswell. Why didn't they just include Barry Burton as Chris Partner and have Rebbeca Chambers with Leon. As for the new guy....well they shouldn't of even included another guy who relies on melee attacks, this is RE not Tekken

Lack of fan favorites RE characters...I mean I like Chris but we've seen him in 3 RE games now

Action is even a bigger part now

They said they were going towards the COD audience.

With 3 characters only one has the horror feel, why do three when they could of stuck to one...Leon

I could go on...

There are allot of Zombie games right now. But that said they all kinda suck. Never liked L4D or Dead Island. Both are FPS games, which limit gameplay allot.

Resident Evil might not be scary but it is fun, but it never has been scary, so no loss there.

The game never got scary because I always think of this.

Any "horror" game that gives the stamp of approval to that opening, was not trying to be that serious to begin with!

But I can't wait for RE6, looks good so far, and they are actually trying to advance the gameplay.

-MD-4462d ago

It's called a budget. A low budget intro to a game doesn't automatically make that game not scary.

Go play the remake on gamecube then talk to me.

NovusTerminus4462d ago

Stop assuming.

I HAVE played the remake of it. I have played / seen most RE games, Minus Revelations which I am working on getting.

Maybe I am jaded and numb, but I have not been scared by any game or movie. The closest a game has ever come to scaring my was Silent Hill 2,

KwietStorm_BLM4462d ago

Never been scary? How old were you when you played RE1?

Tanir4462d ago

i agree, dead island, l4d and all other zombie games out suck pretty bad, resident evil is a great series, even RE5 destroys all the other zombie games, the only one that holds a candle to RE is deadspace 2. tho its sttill not scary it was still pretty fun, just needs more enemy types and useful weapons

GillHarrison4462d ago

No hope left for a game that nobody has even played much less seen yet?

jay24462d ago

No time soon, you'll see RE6 will sell Millions literally.

There Will Never Be Another Resident Evil 6 (And That Sucks)

A rough gem that may never get the proper treatment it deserves.

Terry_B432d ago

^^ I don't want what the author was smoking.

-Foxtrot431d ago

It’s this thing where after enough time people start coming out to defend bad games for some strange reason

I mean hey if you liked it good for you but it was a f****** awful RE game.

Capcom are finally back on track and now people are crying about their shitty mistakes? No thanks.

RpgSama430d ago

I'd take a full blown remake of RE6 based around a GREATLY expanded Leon part and make it even more horror.

That might be something I would be interested in, do not care about any of the other parts of that game.

MadLad430d ago

I couldn't even get through the demo.
Years later I bought it for $3 for PC. I played about 5 minutes into it and uninstalled it.

babadivad430d ago (Edited 430d ago )

RE6 was better than 5. RE6 just took the series to the conclusion that started with 4.

RE4 was the inaugural title in the action game trilogy.

RE9 will be the likely end of the first person psychological thriller trilogy.

They'll switch it up for RE10 or more likely titled RE-X.

hotnickles430d ago

5 is vastly better than 6 imo

TheEnigma313430d ago

RE5 is way better than 6. Stop lying to yourself

FallenAngel1984431d ago (Edited 431d ago )

“But all this is solely with respect to how fans felt back in 2013 when Resident Evil 6 had just been released. The game resulted in the series getting indefinitely killed off until 5 years later when we got Resident Evil 7 and balance was restored yet again. ”

1.) Resident Evil 6 came out in 2012, not 2013

2.) A series getting killed off means no titles at all released in a time period. Silent Hill, Dead Space, Dino Crisis, Parasite Eve & Siren fans would love to see how you can say RE was on the same level of dormancy. In that 5 year time period we had a number of remasters that kept the series alive and kicking. RE1 02ms remaster even broke sales records during the period between RE6 and RE7.

3. Way to disrespect Resident Evil: Revelations 2. It was released during that RE6-RE7 period. It along with its predecessor were mainline titles that kept the horror roots of the series alive in comparison to RE5 and RE6. RE: R1 in particular even introduced the ability to walk and shoot into the series, a feature we can all be grateful for that in modern RE titles. The director RE: R1 later went on to direct RE7 and the director of RE: R2 later went to to direct the RE2 & RE4 remakes.

Immagaiden431d ago (Edited 431d ago )

“Resident Evil 6 is often maligned as the worst entry in the Resident Evil series and is cited as the cause behind the long death of the franchise.”

Titles in the Resident Evil series such as Survivor, Gaiden, Dead Aim, Outbreak, Operation Raccoon City, Umbrella Corps, & Resistance we’re received far worse than RE6.

And death of the franchise?

RE6 was still one of the most commercially successful games in the series, guaranteeing the franchise’s future. Compare how underwhelming sales of Dead Space 3, Silent Hill: Downpour. Alone in the Dark: Illumination, Dino Crisis 3, Fatal Frame: Maiden in Black Water, Castlevania: Lords of Shadows 2, and Metroid: Other M which caused their respective series to go into a long period of dormancy without any rereleases to even keep activity up.

RE however still had a significant number of titles released and rereleased after RE6. Not only that but development for RE7 started a short time after its predecessor came out, meaning there was never a development time that the series could be considered dead. There hasn’t been a single year that Capcom stopped either developing, releasing, or rereleasing Resident Evil games. Let’s not act like the 5 year period between RE6 and RE7 is such a longer time compared to the 4 year period between RE4 and RE5 as well as RE7 and RE8. We can pretty much expect RE9 in either 2025 or 2026, and you can be certain that Capcom will still release other RE tiles leading up to it

TheEnigma313430d ago (Edited 430d ago )

Man go some where with this. Only a few like this game. Why would they remake a garbage game no one likes risking money because it won't sell? RE 6 is dumpster drippings, sorry.

MIDGETonSTILTS17430d ago

It wasn’t that good, even if you enjoyed it like me.
