Is the Fighting Game Community Really Better Without Aris Bakhtanians? - Adam's Rant

GamingUnion: "Let's start this off by saying that I in no way defend Aris' treatment of any female gamer, let alone his commentary during the Cross Assault live-stream. Harassment of any kind is wrong, and any gamer can agree that verbally abusing anyone over something as trivial as a gamer is about as despicable as you can get in any community. FPS games are often held high as a shining example of deplorable behaviour and attitudes towards girl gamers, but very rarely is that kind of behaviour shown during high ranking tournament play. That doesn't mean it's not present, only that it rarely sees the spotlight so gloriously as on Cross Assault's stream. But it's hard for me to really rationalize that 'here and now' is the place to take a stand against sexism in gaming. After all, the fighting game community has never really been about making friends."

I still don't really know what to make of all this.

It's not true! I've made plenty of friends online with Blazblue lol! Anyway, this is the first time I've even heard of this guy. o_o

No. If anything, he brought in more viewers. Team Tekken's stream was the most entertaining out of both teams. Also, she was laughing about it and never really told him to stop in any serious way or he would've stopped. She could've also told Capcom about it and they definitely would've stepped in but she didn't.

Also, STAGED!

Oh, and dem thighs.

You raise a good point, how much of this is actually just for publicity? :/

It was a cool gamble imo. In reality, everyone were waiting for Namco version, Tekken X Street Fighter.

I don’t know. I enjoyed this game. I thought it was a great crossover.

Yep, played very little of it, but from what I played, it was serviceable enough. Could've been better? Yes, but then again, you can say that about pretty much anything.

What killed this game was their planned reliance on GaaS with the whole gem system. It made little sense and made the game extremely unbalanced. Not to mention the unbalance of most of the characters, especially on the Tekken side

Ahhh the game that Capcom had DLC on the disc on release yet you had to pay to unlock it

Street Fighter & Tekken - A Mash-Up Not Meant for Greatness

VGChartz's Daniel Parker: "Tekken and Street Fighter - two giants of the head-to-head fighting genre. A clashing of decades-old titans that was once thought to be a dream matchup that would never happen. It ignited a flame of excitement that quickly fizzled out and became a cautionary tale for game developers."

The inclusion of gems ruined it from the start.
