Game of Thrones MMO announced

Bigpoint has announced that a Game of Thrones MMO is currently development. The development duties will be shared with Artplant, who worked on Battlestar Galactica Online.

This franchise is being run into the ground. Board game, card game, console/PC game, iOS games, and now an MMO all after a single season of the show.

Can't argue with them. Make money while its hot. I have serious doubts it would be any good but I don't think thats what they are aiming for.

Can't blame them either. HBO must have spent a fortune to produce the show - and it was money well spent because the first season was awesome :D

Agreed. But the books have existed for many, many years (they are fantastic IMO), so interest in Martin's 'Ice and Fire' world has been simmering nicely long before the show.

Who cares? If they want to make more money they are free to do so.. I will still only watch the amazing show

It certainly has a great basis for an MMO... just whether it will be any good or not ;)

To be fair, the franchise had a pretty big following because of the books. People see an opportunity to make some money off of it, much in the same way as Star Wars or Lord Of The Rings.

Doesn't mean it's being run into the ground, just means it's gained in popularity.

There's a pretty big fanbase behind the Song of Ice and Fire series. Like ChilliDemon said the books have been around for years and there are still at least 2 more planned to come.

MMO in the loosest terms, look at Battlestar galactica online, bigpoint make shitty browser games with microtransactions just like all those facebook time and money sinks.
