Weekly Sales Analysis, 18 February 2012 - Twisted Metal

Sales have increased compared to last week, but remain down nearly 20 percent year on year. Seven games debuted in the top 30 this week. The order of games from number 31 to 100 is now available, though there is no sales data. Twisted Metal (PS3) has debuted at the top with sales of 267,000.

Software milestones this week in the top 40: New Super Mario Bros. Wii has passed the 25 million mark; and Zumba Fitness 2 (Wii) has crossed the one million mark.

Hardware sales have improved this week compared to a week ago, while the PSP is the only platform to not see an increase week on week. The 3DS is the top selling platform for another week and with the complete launch of the PlayStation Vita in next week’s chart, Vita sales should be up massively and easily take the number one spot.

the 3ds kicks more ass. What a suprise

Anon19744446d ago

Buddy, don't talk trash to me and then block me from responding. The 3DS is doing fine, but that doesn't mean Nintendo's out of the woods.

I'm no more trolling Nintendo than any analyst or industry expert out there who have ALL noted that Nintendo is having some problems. How does the 3DS selling alright change that?

So either the entire industry...and Nintendo themselves who have commented on their troubles multiple times, are correct and Nintendo is facing hardships like they've never faced before - or you're the one who's correct and everything's just fine.

Do you honestly expect me to believe you know better about the current situation then Nintendo themselves?

Knight_Cid4446d ago

I blocked you because I didnt ask for your message. And thankfully, as a 1 bubble troll. You cant sully the topic any further.

Nintendo for the record has said they will be profitable as early as second quarter this year.

Thats what nintendo says

All I ask for is a new Twisted Metal that allows flat screen & PSVR2 cross play that also supports a wheel.
Would be heaven.

Babadook7284d ago

Wow. I like the idea of VR twisted metal with a wheel.

Rebel_Scum284d ago

They need to get the enemy AI balance right. Thats what made 2 the best in the series. Black was abysmal in that dept.

neomahi284d ago

You don't. Do sequels. If you've gotta reboot, might as well do a new IP. God of War is the only game I can say that did a successful reboot

TiredGamer284d ago (Edited 284d ago )

Isn’t the new GoW just a sequel technically?

I personally think they can leverage the roots of the series. The original TM in 1995 took place on Christmas Eve 2005, and it was the 10th contest in history. Why not “reboot” the franchise by making a prequel of sorts showing the origin story of the series and maybe linking all the future games in a brilliant way. Seems like such an obvious idea to leverage old with the new (kind of look how Doom 2016 did with its lore).

Just make it a good game Twisted Metal has it's fan base.

Am I missing something? It looks exactly the same, just higher resolution… Is this sarcasm?

specialguest311d ago

Yes, you're not observant if you think it looks exactly the same. It immediately appeared different to me from the start. Mario's 3D model will always be the same, so not much difference there. However, the animation they've given the Super Mario Wonder makes it look more like a CGI Mario animation where as the New Mario Bros game looks more like typical video game animation movements

__SteakDeck__311d ago

@specialguest Yeah those animations are insane.

FinalFantasyFanatic311d ago

You really didn't notice the difference? It's really obvious, I was surprised when I first saw the trailer.

Asplundh310d ago

"Am I missing something?"

Your glasses maybe?

Juancho51311d ago

This Mario game looks great, getting a switch for this and Mario RPG. CANT WAIT, TITS JACKED.

Profchaos311d ago

Yeah I liked how much more emotion could be conveyed through the new style at first glance I didn't see much difference but then rewatching the trailer I'm seeing more and more animations that remind me of the Mario artwork from the manual of smb3

Outlawzz310d ago

I hated the new super Mario bros Style. This new one seems a lot more expressive and less generic. I hope it's a good game

shinoff2183310d ago

I prefer the 2d Mario's. Me and my girl have played them all together and mario galaxy , Mario odyssey. The 2nd player option is extremely eh
