For those who haven’t played the original, Hyperdimension Neptunia MK2 is a virtual world within a virtual world. I had problems wrapping my head around this concept at first, but it’s truly remarkable in itself. It is unlike anything you have ever experienced before.
Hyperdimension Neptunia MK2 resembles a computerized world. Everything electronic lives and breathes; each entity has its own faction and beliefs. The second game basically picks up right where the first one ends. The original game focused on the console wars and Nepgear’s older sister. Hyperdimensional Neptunia MK2 continues with the fall of Gamindustri.
So many great games, so many franchises saved by developers revisiting exactly what it is players want. Hopefully, other developers wallowing in mediocrity can look to these games as blueprints for what they should do going forward.
