Soccer is the only sport to really have found success in the management genre. With only a few releases before the last few years, the desire for this kind of deep simulation has been enhanced by two factors: the surge in the popularity of fantasy sports, and mainstream sports games’ trend of dumping many deep management elements when making the jump from the last console generation to the current one.
But soccer, with the flagship Football Manager series, has managed to succeed where other sports have failed, and with a baseball entry by 2K and an American football effort from EA, it’s not from lack of trying. World Basketball Manager, from plucky outfit Icehole Games, has seen updates and refreshes since 2004, and it has managed to slip onto Steam along the way. For 2012, the team put a new coat of paint on the project. Does it succeed where others fail?
In order to celebrate the Basketball World Cup in Spain, icehole games has created a special mini game that lets players take control of their favorite national team and try to win the Gold. World Cup 2014 version features this season's tournament Format and the correct Groups, Stadiums, Matches and Rosters for all National Teams that participate in the 2014 World Cup in Spain.
World Cup 2014 is a cut down version of the full WBM game and it only offers to play the World Cup. In case players want to take control of their favorite team, the full version of WBM can be downloaded. The full game allows players to control transfers, contracts, players' training and all the various club departments like funding and youth academy. As the season progresses, players will receive feedback from press, fans, players and administration and score that ranks them among the world's managers.

Icehole games is happy to announce the release of the latest addition to its successful World Basketball Manager game series. WBM Tycoon is a completely new game mode that lets player become the owner of a basketball club and lead it to glory.
In classic WBM game the user creates his profile and starts his international career as the Manager of a basketball club, trying to become the best manager in the world. But in WBM Tycoon the user is not only the Manager, but also the Club Owner and the Financial Manager, and he gets to create a new basketball franchise in any country he wants or take control of an existing one.
As the Club Owner the user must generate (or loan) the necessary funds in order to expand the club's facilities, raise the financial level and improve the team's roster in order to win titles. And as he remains the Manager, he is still in charge of the Player´s training program and when the match day comes, he will have to select the team lineup, create the most appropriate strategy and find the way to victory by countering the opposing manager´s plans.
World Basketball Manager Tycoon is a fresh look in sport management games that combine the classic sport manager gameplay with the financial management and development of a Tycoon type game.
