Brain Training tops Spanish, German charts, No Xbox 360, PS3 titles in top ten

Nintendo's DS Brain Training games have topped the charts in both Spain and Germany.

Dr. Kawashima's Brain Training is at number one in Spain, with sequel More Brain Training taking the coveted spot in Germany.

Neither the Spanish or German top ten has any PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360 games, with Wii, PlayStation 2 and DS the dominant formats.

The top ten for each country follows:

Spain, week ended December 9

no next gen title in the top ten, this is why the UK is the only country that matters for gaming and that is where the 360 dominates

PS3 does as good as x360 in UK but in terms of hardware.

In terms of software x360 does very well.

However in Spain,France,Germany and Italy ---PS3 runs neck and neck with Wii in terms of hardware as well as software sales

FRANCE is as big as UK and so is Germany when it comes to Hardware sales and PS3 does well in all those countries even in UK

Wow, I thought things were bad in Japan were things like WiiFit outsold real game PS3 and 360. No PS3 or 360 title in top 10 and a Brain Training game at top? Sad.

It did extremely well considering GT4P sold 140 on PS2 with 14 million JAPANESE userbase.

the flop howver was Kingdom under fire on x360--a full game that couldnt even sell 20k copies

I don't think it's sad that a brain training game is at the top. I enjoy those games just as much as what we might consider to be "traditional" games. The problem w/ "traditional" games is that they're very much for a niche market in the grand scheme of things.

Brain training games can be appealing to both avid gamers and not-so-avid demographics. I've seen ppl who think games are for nerds pick up a brain game and enjoy it to the point that their games-are-for-nerds misconception gets completely overturned.

The only reason why these games are being sold is because they cost a lot less the PS3 or xbox 360 games... How do I know? Look at the PC games... we all know the difference between PC vs Consoles games in terms of sells...
