so? my game of the year was radiant historia. Does that make my opinion any less valuable than theres or different?

Tr10wn4489d ago (Edited 4489d ago )

so? games doesn't deserve goty awards? is an award not a fact get it right.... beside some people got Dragon Age 2 as GOTY and that game really suck.

Knight_Cid4489d ago

you just proved my point on how little goty matter

Bigpappy4489d ago (Edited 4489d ago )

I get your point, but DA2 does not suck. Most people who bought that game finished it, because it was very playable and you could actually follow the story arc. What some people did not like was the simplification that Bioware tried, just like with ME2. The game was actually well made, but more action adventure less RPG.

Any way, Skyrim is the best game of the year and for many year before actually. I am still playing it and have not completed the main quest, because that is not my focus. I only go back to the main quest when I am ready for a change in flow of the game. As you advance the AI attack patterns seem to change, and you discover new things that you wouldn't by just exploring and leveling. I am around 250hrs in and I don't plan on joining the thiefs or the Dark Brotherhood. That is the beauty of the ES games. I have all of these options and I can choose the path I want to develope my character.

"Academy of Interactive [Arts Sciences]" isn't that an oxymoron?

Also, these three things simply do not apply to skyrim: "story, gameplay engineering, and gameplay direction."

The story was rubbish, compared to a whole load of other RPGs, the gameplay is horridly engineered (if by that, they mean programming - which is what software engineering is but I wouldn't expect artsy fartsy types to have any idea about that even when they see bugs break the game first hand), and there is no "direction" on purpose in Skyrim... I guess because the people giving out the award are not gamers they just followed the hype and say Skyrim is fantastic without really understanding why lol (it is a fantastic game, but only a gamer will be able to realise that and compare it to other gaming experiences - if one of them happens to be morrowind though they will hate skyrim lol). Surely SWToR is a superior RPG in nearly every way? Especially the 3 categories which they awarded Skyrim for... oh wait it isn't multiplat so that instantly means it can't be great does it?

Anyway, I can't (or, don't want to) view the full article because apparently gameritto.com is a phishing site (herp derp?) so I will do what I usually do anyway and pick holes in the summary lol. I just hate artsy fartsy idiots talking about games, because they only ever talk about the big mainstream titles or little hipstery (well, they make them hipstery by going on and on and on about them trying to be cool) titles like braid and minecraft.

You should really watch the keynote of todd from DICE 2012 so he can explain how u "must" play TES games, Skyrim is a well made massive open world with tons of things to do, if u are looking for a guided story telling or linear this isnt ur game go play FF13, thats why there is no direction purpose, ur just "YOU" in a massive map now do whatever u want in there, if u can't understand that please stop playing TES games.

bozebo4489d ago (Edited 4489d ago )

what?

also "please stop playing TES games" who are you to tell me not to play a series?

I don't think you got what I was trying to say anyway.

majiebeast4489d ago

Just release a broken game and voila goty.

dedicatedtogamers4489d ago

Skyrim is good but it's sad that the more consolized the Elder Scrolls series becomes, the more awards and the more popularity it gains.

I remember being able to craft my own freakin' SPELLS in Morrowind. SPELLS! I remember getting my stats so high that - with a bit of help from a potion - I could jump from rooftop to rooftop, sniping guards with my bow while they searched for me. Can your precious Fus Roh Dah do that?

There are no "thoughtful" ads in video games, EA

I think the only type of games that can gets away with it would be sport games, having those sponsors ads on the side like on real life.

But don't put freaking Doritos ads in Star Wars or something, it breaks the immersion. If it is a pop-up ads, then big no.

Hofstaderman10d ago

EA can thoughtfully eff themselves.

Makersbreath210d ago

EA coming back for the crown of being perceived as the worst company in gaming.

Chocoburger9d ago (Edited 9d ago )

One of my favorite series is the THPS franchise, and it was packed with ads, but it didn't bother me. Posters for skateboard companies, JEEP, and Nokia phones. It did sort of fit in with the game world, but that was the past, these days ad would be intentionally intrusive or unskippable loading screen type of imagery. Ugh, I know EA would do it in a horrible fashion. Screw them.

Report: Sexual Misconduct Investigation Conducted at EA, Suspects Named and What They Did Revealed

EA senior staff has been investigated for sexual misconduct involving female coworkers, and these said people have been named publicly.

isarai16d ago

Aye just call Phil, i mean he somehow made Bobby Kotick's scandal disappear and gave him a few million dollar high five on the way out.

Cacabunga15d ago

I wonder if it will be censored with some in game ads.

MrBaskerville13d ago (Edited 13d ago )

Microsoft did, Phil Spencer played a minor part. He instigated the buyout that led to Kotick escaping all his controversies while getting a golden handshake.

Someone on Twitter calculated that the people hired in Tango and Arkane Austin could get a decent salary for roughly 17 years for the money Kotick was paid.

InUrFoxHole12d ago

Yeah some thing tells me Kotics $ was already guaranteed before MS made the deal. As for the studios... Let's be honest here... none of those studios made system sellers.

XiNatsuDragnel15d ago (Edited 15d ago )

EA about to go down like Activision and then Phil saves the day saying.this is good for the industry and consolidation will help create competition. /s.

MrBaskerville13d ago

Then they shutdown Codemasters and studio behind Jedi Survivor.

Atleast they could hardly do much damage that EA hadn't allready done. EA has shut down most of their studios by now.

What's up with all these horny creeps. You gon be horny, fine. Just not at work take care of that shit before you go in. Rub one out if you have to. Don't be a creep at all. ESPECIALLY at work. But don't be one AT ALL.

Extermin8or3_15d ago

I mean part of the issue is that things transpired outside of work....

MrBaskerville13d ago

That's the thing he mentioned about not being a creep at all.

KwietStorm_BLM15d ago

You think deviants care where they are? Work sometimes makes it an even better situation for them because they can abuse their power.

mudakoshaka14d ago

Nerds think they are Gods when they are making video games.

NotoriousWhiz15d ago (Edited 15d ago )

"it seems that according to EA, given the events transpired outside of work between two adults, and the fact that once investigation has started that the alleged perpetrators didn’t do it again, the investigation is considered closed. [...] The victim still has to work with the people that harassed her."

Yep, EA is disgusting.

Extermin8or3_15d ago

I mean the fact stuff happened outside of work puts EA in quite a difficult position legally. These women don't seem to have reported the matter to the police which kinda ties EA's hands on what they can do. If they don't file reports of the crimes then yeah from EA's perspective it is stuff that happened outside of work. The only exception is the guy that apparently referenced things in the slack channel for work, spending on what he said proving it may be very hard and he may well be able to get away with plausible deniability. I don't like EA and I think these people need to be dismissed but without any legal action being taken, EA can't really do much without risk of being sued themselves for unfair dismissal etc.
