Destructoid: I'm coming off spending a weekend with early preview code for Ubisoft's I Am Alive, and I'll tell you right now that I'm already pretty excited about this game. Some of that excitement could just be that I'm relieved to be safe for a bit, and finally not nervous to the end of my wit from wandering around in the game's charged, threatening world. I was so tense from playing that I think I'll always jokingly call this game I Am Stressed Out.
This is yet another game that puts you in a post-apocalyptic situation, exploring a ruined city, trying to make your way. But what Ubisoft Shanghai has here is a bit different from the rest of your end-of-the-world games in that your struggle to survive is the main focus, and your limitations as a normal human end up being your greatest enemy.

Neil writes "October. The busiest time of year for new game releases. And this year is no different with a huge number of titles releasing over the next 30 days or so.
So you can't really blame the team back at Xbox HQ for delivering a bevy of Games With Gold titles that really do fail to enthuse many. In fact, whilst the free Xbox One and Xbox 360 games given away during September were pretty damn decent, October's free titles will quite possibly go down as one of the worst combination of Games With Gold titles this year."
Where are the fanboys previously calling out PS+ as indie+ etc for many months this year, to complain about Octobers GwG indie line-up? Hypocrites.
Well, it's decent offering. But it's just lackluster this month.
I noticed that when Xbox has a major release like Gears of War, MS releases weaker games on Games with Gold to get you to play Gears. While Sony gives you better games to stop people from playing Gears. Both Sony and MS do this.
No but stop complaining about the monthly courtesy games. Complain about the £40 games with microtransactions.
'Ubisoft has something fairly unique with I Am Alive. While post-apocalyptic survival is nothing new to games, their focus on survival and resource management makes for a tense, thrilling experience. It's not yet clear how long of an experience I Am Alive is, but it's already looking like a hell of a big game for a $15 XBLA and PSN title. I can't wait to get back in and stress out a bit more.'
Sounds pretty positive!
One preview has piqued my interest. Sounds fascinating.
I really hope this doesn't end up as another case of 'preview - this game is amazing and we can't wait to play more. Review - this game sucks horribly from the very first second' . If it actually works as well as this preview implies this could be exactly my kind of thing. It's a pity it didn't get enough of a budget to look like a modern retail game but it looks like the atmosphere and originality could carry it.
First 15 minutes got online. http://bit.ly/zKQ9BA It looks really good.
The game sound great. When is it releasing?
