The Last Story heralds the end of the Wii?

Let's be honest. As much as the Wii has never been a great experience for core gamers, even the bigger titles that have appeared for it are becoming more and more infrequent. GamePeople writer Chris Jarvis suggests that The Last Story is so named because it will be the last major core gaming experience for the Wii before the introduction of the Wii-U.

well i can't see Nintendo supporting the Wii after the WiiU is released and let's face it, 3rd party devs haven't exactly lit up the gaming community on it. I think the MOVE needs the Wii around to help generate interest in that form of gaming, so it could impact Sony too, even if games like Sorcery do come out

It will be interesting how much of the motion style experiences the WiiU sticks too, or whether it focuses on developing experiences just for the new controller.

actually Wii has lots of games for core, they just need to do some research instead of bashing console.. the last story looks pretty cool too..

You don't feel that as a core gamer you find yourself waiting for a long time between decent releases? Agreed there are some great "serious" games for the Wii as well as for casual gamers, but I would say that for a keen gamer the Wii does little to sustain interest.

I was a Wii owner after the PS2 first and foremost, but I ended up buying a PS3 after about a year because there simply wasn't enough to maintain my interest.

I love my selection on the Wii. I love those quirky Japanese Titles like Chocobo Dungeon, Opoona, and No more Heroes.
I still have yet to buy:
Sin and Punishment 2
dokapon Kingdom
Madworld
Skylanders
Disney Universe
Onepiece Unlimited Adventure
Rhythm Heaven
XenoBlade
and a host of others I have written down on a list somewhere.

the wii has been great for core gamers. Not so much for mountain dew drinking fps gamers.

I wish The Last Story would make a comeback.I played it years before I got around to Xenoblade. Mainly because of the scalping going on because of Xeno's limited run. It took me a few tries to get into it but once I did I couldn't put it down. A Wii hidden gem for sure.

As much as I love Xenoblade, Last Story was the better game IMO. I wish Nintendo would remaster or simply port the game onto the Switch.

Xenoblade went on to be a really successful franchise too.

I wish the Last Story get a Switch remaster or remake. That game deserves a second chance
