Nintendo is coming off of a pretty rough fiscal year, posting an anticipated loss of ¥65 billion ($839M) despite strong sales for Super Mario 3D Land and Mario Kart 7.
Hanzala from eXputer: "The cruel hammer of Nintendo has fallen. Farewell, 3DS and Wii U, you surely brightened my life and many others; you won't be forgotten."
Hanzla from eXputer inquires: "If Xbox can care about preserving its games and legacy, what exactly is wrong with Nintendo, trying to kill game preservation single-handedly?"
Ahh yes the good old game preservation of saving all your games to a removable hhd on the Xbox 360, taking it round your mates house, setting up multiple tvs to
Be met with “save data corrupted, please re download”
Or how about removing 360 games
From the store
, download them now or else, and, better hope to god that save data doesn’t corrupt, or it’s lost for ever
Nice one ☝️
This is just a scammy PR move to distract from the fact they are going digital only and trying to push streaming and subscriptions only.
No gaming company has pushed harder to remove ownership than Microsoft.
Without discs there is no preservation, preservation can't be done by the rights holders it can only be done by the consumers, anything else is a lie.
Nobody wants this. Sales or the lack of it in the case of XBOX is very telling. I wonder how the adorably all digital series X will fare. Adorably dismal perhaps?
Only time will tell, but for from someone like me suspecting that Xbox is trying to gracefully exit the console market, that "forward compatibility" team is trying to get Xbox games playing on Windows PCs. I mean, it's nice that they're not planning on exiting with a "enjoy your games while the hardware still works" message, so that's nice. They still have a brand to protect via Microsoft so probably feel obligated to have a better exit strategy.
Danish from eXputer: "Nintendo has historically gone against player-made content and emulation of its games. This has done much to harm the company's image."
They need to stop announcing these mods and fan remakes until they're finished. Finish it, upload it, and then if Nintendo dmca's it tough shit. Once it's online, people can share it around, even if the original download gets taken down.
This is all coming from the mouth of short-sighted fandom and grifting madness.
No.... it wont. There is a clear defined reason why they don't. This is nothing new. Make your own shi7 from your own original ideas especially if you are trying to capitalize of it it. Duh.
Yeah, hire people that have zero respect or understanding for an established process. Wow. Yep. Totally makes sense.
People are trying to spin this data despite the fact that the competition has lost billions of (US) dollars since 2008. One company has a product that has never been profitable since its release. (Selling for a profit and being profitable are two different things.)
People will tell you Nintendo is selling the 3DS at a loss, which they are not. They just took a loss when they did the price cut. Cost of Goods and distribution is still around $100 US.
Unless you're a shareholder you never hear this stuff. You only hear what gets filtered through the press. Either way its fascinating stuff, and losing $800+ milion is no laughing matter, despite the horrid condition of one of your competitors.
They still have a hell of a lot of money.
It always makes me laugh, Nintendo has 1 loss in 30 years and is dead, Sony loses billions for years and is ok, despite having less cash and a huge debt.
Nintendo has no debt at all.
That Mario picture is funny looks like the mushroom eating has finally caught up with him in a perma trip.
Nintendo will bounce back they always do but the need to think up new ideas and try and tap back into the hardcore gamer that they have forgotten about. I know there are hardcore Mario fans, Zelda fans, and Metroid fans. But Nintendo needs some new characters and some new games that don't just revolve around a plumber.
I think this is good news, because i, a representative of sony fanboys hate nintendo and they deserve to lose lolololol
Samsung is the new king of consumer electronics 17% profit wow tvs and phones outsold everyone last few years their products are getting better and better just announced a massive increase in R&D well done south korea, data was released the same day as nintendo.
