February 2012 Video Game Releases: Playstation Vita Launch And Over 70 Games

February may be the shortest month in the year but in terms of video game releases, it may only be eclipsed by November this year. Not only do we see the launch of the Playstation Vita and a ton of launch games, we also get Resident Evil: Revelations on the 3DS, Twisted Metal on the PS3, Asura’s Wrath, The Darkness 2, Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning, and over 65 more games.

It's safe to say that I will have no money after this month is over.

Colwyn4474d ago (Edited 4474d ago )

so the ps vita is launching with more games than the 3ds garnered in a whole year, wicked. i cant wait for the best handheld in history. all sony has to do is support the vita with software like they do the ps3 and it will be more successful than the 3ds or close.

buying 2 first day.

LOGICWINS4474d ago

"all sony has to do is support the vita with software like they do the ps3 and it will be more successful than the 3ds or close."

Why does it need to be more successful than the 3DS? Why compare Vita to the 3DS at all?

imbrawler4474d ago

i thought this article was about the ps vita not the 3ds, also both have its + and -, thats why if possible own both like me

dark-hollow4474d ago

Why do you have to attack the 3ds and the wii u on a daily basis?
Insecure much?

Game4life4474d ago

pertty sure its not just the best handheld launch but the best video game console launch lineup ever seen if you ask me

Stealth2k4474d ago

And the 3ds has 200 games in dev, is number 1 worldwide, and the vita is flopping.

so you tell me what has the potential to be the best?>

CrazyInsane4474d ago

@stealth2k Shall i remind you how succesful the 3ds was upon release ?

Mikhail4474d ago

3DS has good software lineup right now as compared to the vita. But they did it for a span of 1 year.

To all vita bashers, its not a flop yet until we see its performance after 1 year. Yep, 1 year. For months, we all saw how the 3ds is labelled as a flop and look at what happened.

coojo4474d ago

vita has 1 good game i got 20 3ds so...

WrAiTh Sp3cTr34474d ago

None of those games make me want to buy a Vita let alone first day.

ronin4life4473d ago

@im
It's not. It is about all games in Feb.
@crazy
That hardly matters now.

It's also safe to say that it is the greatest launch of all times concerning games.

I mean medias alwys focusing on minor problems, but when it commes to talk about games hey, everybody is gone...

What people want when they buy such device : games to play.
Is there game on Vita ?
A ton.

I've never seen such a prolific launch in my life of player.

Sony did some great mistake by the past, but this, it is great Maybe the best thing they did since a long time. Kudos.

Criminal4474d ago

I can afford either a PS Vita and Uncharted: Golden Abyss or Twisted Metal, SSX, Mass Effect 3. It's tough because I like getting new consoles on day one, but I really wanna play the other 3 games.

TrendyGamers4474d ago

I don't envy you, that is a very tough choice!

Game4life4474d ago

throw in the jax collection as well. i really want neverdead though

MasterCornholio4474d ago

It saddens me to see people claim that the Vita has no games when the truth is that the Vita is launching with a very strong lineup with many more great games to come in the future.

XperiaRay

insomnium24474d ago

Well I believe they are the haters who say that. No matter what Sony can't win in their opinion.

ronin4life4473d ago

There are plenty of games, just none that appeal to me.

It saddens me that people claim the 3ds has no games when the truth is the Vita is launching against a system with a powerful lineup with many great games to come in the future.
You don't have to like them, but there's no point in denying the truth.

CrazyInsane4474d ago

Its not a positive thing that the vita has lots of launch games. Most of the less popular games will be overlooked.

JoeReno4474d ago (Edited 4474d ago )

While it may be true for the masses "the less popular game will be over looked" but to the core gamer (whom often reads video game news) will know what's up. We are the forefront for spreading the word on the lesser known games, we tell our COD loving friends that there are other great games out there. So to me its very much a positive thing to have many launch games. Because Uncharted isn't the only game I'm going to buy day one. Come on Feb.15th!

thehusbo4474d ago

Ps vita, uncharted golden abyss, twisted metal, jak and hd and a load of other vita games :ooo great month ahead :D

Twisted Metal Retro Review – Nothing Short Of Iconic

Everyone knows Twisted Metal... I mean literally everyone! Whether it is simply a childhood classic for you, or one of the worst, mind-corrupting disgraces to entertainment you can think of, you've at least heard of this iconic title.

All I ask for is a new Twisted Metal that allows flat screen & PSVR2 cross play that also supports a wheel.
Would be heaven.

Babadook7281d ago

Wow. I like the idea of VR twisted metal with a wheel.

Rebel_Scum281d ago

They need to get the enemy AI balance right. Thats what made 2 the best in the series. Black was abysmal in that dept.

neomahi281d ago

You don't. Do sequels. If you've gotta reboot, might as well do a new IP. God of War is the only game I can say that did a successful reboot

TiredGamer281d ago (Edited 281d ago )

Isn’t the new GoW just a sequel technically?

I personally think they can leverage the roots of the series. The original TM in 1995 took place on Christmas Eve 2005, and it was the 10th contest in history. Why not “reboot” the franchise by making a prequel of sorts showing the origin story of the series and maybe linking all the future games in a brilliant way. Seems like such an obvious idea to leverage old with the new (kind of look how Doom 2016 did with its lore).

Knightofelemia281d ago

Just make it a good game Twisted Metal has it's fan base.

Syndicate Reboot Servers to Close

Electronic Arts has announced a number of server closures in the coming months, including Apex Mobile and the 2012 Syndicate reboot.

MadLad402d ago

What online functionality did Shadows of the Damned even have?

kevco33402d ago

My thoughts exactly! Some kind of score chart I've forgotten about?

coolbeans401d ago

Syndicate's big saving grace will soon be erased for good. I'll give *some* credit to EA in keeping servers up for 10+ years.

mastershredder401d ago

Oh yeah, an actual cyberpunk game. I have fond memories of the old bullfrog Syndicates.

IamTylerDurden1400d ago

Syndicate was a fun and high quality late PS3 fps that got swallowed in the sea of fps at the time. It was short and it didn't innovate but it had good visuals and fun combat. Starbreeze i believe. Rip Torn and Rosario Dawson.
