Star Wars Battlefront 3 To Be A Series Reboot?

I do hope so. Battlefront 3 has been long overdue

MagicAccent4482d ago (Edited 4482d ago )

Yeah, but, what's there to reboot? Are we going to play as bobbleheads?

Still, I hope Lucas Arts will finally pull their heads out of their asses, clean their ears and actually LISTEN to the fans... We're the ones with the money, so give us something we want for a change.

guitarded774482d ago

I think they were referring to Spark's mention of dropping the number III and just using a sub-title like Rogue Squadron. This seems to be the way the series has been for a while considering handheld versions of the game are the newest and have used this title method. Anyway, can't wait for some SWBF3 or whatever the hell anyone wants to call it.

I would love a new, modernized Battlefront. I have a lot of fond memories of the originals.

LtSkittles4482d ago

I'm sorry, but your website's layout sucks.

Ontopic: I hope they bring a balance to the Heroes, and Villains, and hope that it's got a good sized player capacity.

WillGuitarGuy4482d ago

We've been working on the layout for some time so it should be better soon. I actually hope they'd make AI smarter this time around.

Rebooting a franchise after just two games....really ¬¬

I hate when a a game/films put in a subtitle when the past installments have always had numerals, take Mission Impossible Ghost Protochol for example, whats wrong with just MI4

WillGuitarGuy4482d ago

After 2 games and a couple psp games you mean.

LtSkittles4482d ago (Edited 4482d ago )

There are spinoffs too.

Crysis 2 was considered a "reboot" by Crytek.

So yea, when the company that developers the game goes under and it's been many years since the last release of the series, then a third can be considered a reboot.

Hufandpuf4482d ago

Crysis 2 was not a reboot. In some cases, fans think it was a downgrade.

caboose324482d ago (Edited 4482d ago )

Yes, but Crytek themselves said in interviews that they are labeling Crysis 2 as a reboot. (specifically an interview on xplay)

It does not mean I agree with them, jesus christ people. Look it up.

PamPoovey4482d ago

I'm getting the impression that people are disagreeing more because they class it as me saying something "negative" about Battlefront....

I'm just saying you don't need to reboot something so early in the franchise. Anyway I wouldn't count the PSP games were talking about the main console games here.

That line about a "3rd person multiplayer action advenure" in a "high profile science fiction franchise" sounds very very promising.

I'm not the biggest fan but I really enjoyed Battlefront 2. And I can just imagine what they could do with the power of our current consoles.

WillGuitarGuy4482d ago

Seeing that they're working with the Unreal Engine makes me more excited too.

Game companies are not mature enough to handle this concept without turning it into a casino.

shadowknight203141d ago

The remakes of battlefront should have been more simular to the originals. CoD/battlefield reskinned as Star Wars was not the anwser.

Oh yea battlefront games were on the psp weren't they? And force unleashed as well. Great "handheld" versions those were.

plmkoh727d ago

Battlefront III in PSP is just Elite Squadron, was never cancelled. The start up menu is even the same same with X1 and X2.

After all these years, Free Radical's SWBF2 is still the best overall Star Wars game to me. It had everything you could want in big fun team battles, Jedi vs Sith and the space battles were extremely well done giving you the ability to land inside a capital ship's hangar to sabotage and take it down from within.

Sciurus_vulgaris825d ago

Free Radical didn’t make Star Wars Battlefront 2. The long defunct Pandemic Games developed the original Battlefront 2.

Urrakia34825d ago

Thank you sir, I appreciate the correction. Pandemic also developed Mercenaries I believe, right? That game too is a classic!

Sciurus_vulgaris825d ago

Yes, Pandemic did indeed develop Mercenaries.

ZeekQuattro825d ago

I wish that IP would make a return. The original was better but its the second one had its moments. You could pretty much level anything in those games if you had the right armaments.

This is just Battlefront Elite Squadron. Cancelling it was the right move, very few changes to Battlefront 3 except for a new forgettable campaign.
