Hollow Knight come damn near close to knocking Super Metroid from the top of my list, that’s a huge achievement for such a small team.
The problem for me is I’ve been waiting for a 2D Metroid that beats Super but I don’t think I’ll ever see that day. I still play the original 1-2 times a year and a few randomiser plays.
Fully agree with the list and all points it makes for each game. I’m expecting Dread to fit in the middle of that list but I’m happy to be wrong about that.

This is actually really cool. It's like the last ever glimpse of a Gamecube game in 2012 haha. Man I miss that thing :/ I've been so disappointed with Nintendo this generation. Looks like the WiiU will be the same old crap.
Everyone who claims to hate Nintendo this gen just loved them last gen. The Cube was a huge failure, selling less than MS first Xbox WW. Metroid Prime was one of the very FEW top tier games which can be considered classics now. Along with maybe RE4, and the best version of SC2. But overall the Cube was home to some of the worst iterations of Nintendo's staple franchises ever. Sunshine? WW was crap, Double Dash? Garbage. Cube was incredibly forgettable. Its no wonder it sold only 20million WW.
But I'm glad Prime 3 was saved for Wii. The control scheme was ace, and with the Prime Trilogy it brought everything full circle on Wii.
