Two NeoGeo classics released onto PSN

A pair of nostalgic SNK NeoGeo arcade classics have been released onto PlayStation Network. Available via the "New Releases" category and the "SNK NEOGEO" featured publishers category found within the PlayStation Store is Bermuda Triangle and Gold Medalist.

Neither of these titles are "Neo Geo" titles. They are arcade titles by SNK, true, but they predate the Neo Geo system and weren't released on it so the name is misleading. Did SNK release these as "Neo Geo Station" titles or something?

According to the press release we received, they're Neo Geo titles. Maybe they appeared on the Neo Geo arcade cabinets at some point after their original releases.

I've never even seen a Neo Geo with my own eyes, let alone played one.

When I was a kid back during the early 90s, there was an urban legend of a guy in the neighborhood maybe in his early 20s who actually owned a Neo Geo. I heard of this person through a friend of a friend who claimed to have been in his apt and got the rare chance to play the Neo Geo.

As a kid, owning a Neo Geo or evening playing it at home was a pipe dream. The Neo Geo was the ultimate home console during those times.

I have every neo game and I don't have these 2 so I doubt they had the AES release.

NWR: Bermuda Triangle: Saving the Coral Review

NWR writes: "Bermuda Triangle: Saving the Coral is an educational title with a fun puzzle mechanic at its core. It is a match-three puzzle game, like many that have come before it, and the game's unique twist is that instead of falling objects, as in most Tetris-style puzzlers, Bermuda deals in floating objects. On the top screen is a boat that fires gems into the ocean, which resides on the bottom screen. As you fire gems into the ocean, they float to the surface. If the surface is too crowded, they will float below the gems above them in a pyramid fashion. When three gems match in a row, they vanish, and spread nutrients to the ocean floor where coral grows. When enough coral has grown, the stage ends."

WorthPlaying: Bermuda Triangle Review

WorthPlaying writes: "Bermuda Triangle: Saving the Coral does not sound like the ideal title for a video game so I was pleasantly surprised by this puzzle title. While it's not on the level of Tetris, Planet Puzzle League or even Bust-a-Move, it provides a decent distraction while it lasts. Aside from the main mode, it's a pretty bare-bones experience, so once you finish the single-player portion, you're pretty much done. In my mind, that prevents this from being a must-buy game. However, if you've been looking for a decent puzzler to pass the time on the DS, then Bermuda Triangle might be worth a look."
