No exclusive fighters in Xbox Street Fighter X Tekken

While the PlayStation 3 and Vita versions of Street Fighter X Tekken are seemingly jam-packed with platform-exclusive characters, it looks like the Xbox version will be stuck with the original roster, reports Xbox 360 Achievements.

Tekken and SF
Got alot of their recognition from the Playstation Brand

tehpees34503d ago

Technically Tekken gets associated with the playstation brand. Street fighter became a huge hit on super nintendo.

MaxXAttaxX4503d ago (Edited 4503d ago )

Yup. But a lot of it also had to do with controls. Super Nintendo had the best controls available at the time. Then PlayStation came along.

Of course, both are associated with arcade as well, but Tekken is the one most associated with PlayStation.

Darth Stewie4503d ago

Mainly Tekken but I get your point. With the fact that both SF and Tekken have been associated with the PS Brand more than the Xbox brand but it mainly has to do with Microsoft not having a 1st party character to fit in the game(just like MK) than its a no brainer as to why Capcom and Namco is not doing anything.
Atleast the game is being made on 360 for others to play.

Baka-akaB4503d ago (Edited 4503d ago )

SF was never truly associated with the ps brand . SF was pretty much always released everywhere . Snes , megadrive etc .

If anything , the ps1 and ps2 version of capcom's 2d fighters were crap , given how the saturn was perfect for 2d games , especially with the dedicated ram cartridge , and had the better pad for fighting games (along with the neo geo) . And the dreamcast was the only one with enough raw power and memory to handle near mint arcade version of arcade games such as CvS , sf3 etc ...
Capcom just released whatever they could on the most popular console at each era that's all ... when it comes to street fighter

PS : I doubt it's so much about lacking characters , from MS' side . Cole's infamous hardly fits SFxT and it's still there .

Gohadouken4503d ago

Lol weird and hissy fits disagrees . The saturn versions of 2d fighters were as a matter of fact superior to their ps1 counterpart . The saturn always handled 2d better and did have for some game an expensive extra cartridge to get a near arcade version of snk and capcom games .

And there is no way SF3's , Capcom vs SNk 1-2's best versions on consoles , till the HD re-release , or even the capcom collections , werent on dreamcast or later on xbox .

The ps1 and ps2 version were just weaker ports .

hkgamer4503d ago

I think the only reason that Street Fighter games, or any fighting games are not recognised on the XBox is because of the crappy D-pad it has.

PSone had pretty decent ports for the alpha series. but just couldn't handle the vs. series at all because of hardware limitations.

For the PS2, well capcom just hated the thing and hardly released a single exclusive for it.

Redempteur4503d ago

i have to agree with Hkgamer..
i tried to play on the xboxpad with KOF13 recently and i messed up all my combos .. the pad is just Bad for fighting games..

SF is more well known for SNES and arcade, not Playstation. Tekken yeah but not SF. How is it that SF is considered a Playstation brand? I don't remember anyone playing SSF on a Playstation.

TenSteps4503d ago

Is that Kuma with a Mika costume...

kickass.

zeal0us4503d ago

Just like Mortal Kombat....sigh :(

Fishy Fingers4503d ago

Pretty silly they couldnt hammer something out between them (MS and Capcom).

But it's times like this we look to the $$$ isnt it, or at least thats usually the case when a certain console has the extra content ;)

tarbis4503d ago

I'm sure M$ can drum up more money than Sony. Thing is, Sony has better content than M$.

Fishy Fingers4503d ago

Ha, I was taking the p***, states in the article that MS/Capcom couldnt meet an agreement. Shame really, would of been nice to see Marcus in a fighting game.

Studio-YaMi4503d ago (Edited 4503d ago )

Microsoft doesn't even have exclusives coming out for 2012 that I know of & in 2011 they only had like what..2 or 3 games all year ?? and you're proclaiming that it's about $$$ that sony paid for that MS couldn't ???

Everyone knows when it comes to money, microsoft is like a money tree, but face it,they just don't like there core fans as much as sony does, get with the program Fishy.

Yes I would have liked to see Marcus fenix and Master chief in the game, but you have no one else to blame but MS.

@iamgoatman
you are the fool here if you didn't catch my drift
I was actually speaking about money ! microsoft gaming department had nothing to spend on last year other than 2 to 3 games ! so they SHOULD have much more money to spend than Sony's gaming department !

Don't be a blind, this is not rocket science ! MS could have easily reached an agreement with Capcom, but I bet you they are saving those $$ for Kinect games that are releasing this year, you can mark my words on that.

iamgoatman4503d ago

Seriously, blaming everything on a lack of exclusive games is getting old. If you really think this had anything to do with anything else other than money, then you're a complete fool.

InTheLab4503d ago

"Had a deal been reached, Ono said he would have liked to include either Marcus Fenix from Gears of War or Master Chief from the Halo series."

And that's why exclusives matter. Every time a new fighting game pops up, the game's devs have a huge number of potential fighters to pull from Sony's catalog, while we're stuck with only Two franchises to pull from, from MS.

Seriously, Chief and Fenix every single time.....

Street Fighter X Tekken - A Look Back at the Franchise's Biggest Misfire

With Street Fighter 6 now upon us, it's time to look back at some classic Street Fighter titles, beginning with Street Fighter X Tekken.

boing1351d ago

It was a cool gamble imo. In reality, everyone were waiting for Namco version, Tekken X Street Fighter.

Ryuha1234h351d ago

I don’t know. I enjoyed this game. I thought it was a great crossover.

TricksterArrow351d ago (Edited 351d ago )

Yep, played very little of it, but from what I played, it was serviceable enough. Could've been better? Yes, but then again, you can say that about pretty much anything.

maniacmayhem351d ago

What killed this game was their planned reliance on GaaS with the whole gem system. It made little sense and made the game extremely unbalanced. Not to mention the unbalance of most of the characters, especially on the Tekken side

Sgt_Slaughter351d ago

Ahhh the game that Capcom had DLC on the disc on release yet you had to pay to unlock it

Street Fighter & Tekken - A Mash-Up Not Meant for Greatness

VGChartz's Daniel Parker: "Tekken and Street Fighter - two giants of the head-to-head fighting genre. A clashing of decades-old titans that was once thought to be a dream matchup that would never happen. It ignited a flame of excitement that quickly fizzled out and became a cautionary tale for game developers."

The inclusion of gems ruined it from the start.
