Well done Capcom you have now reached Square Enix's ignorance and are now on the same level of how to ignore your fanbase and the complaints they voice.

We didn't...sorry seems like I'm speaking for everyone....I'll rephrase that, the majority of us didn't want co-op, it killed the horror and it was forced. Ruining what made RE 1-4 so good.

Seriously I don't understand how Capcom works, it's like they just don't give a crap about their fans. They did the same with dmc. Maybe thats why they've announced this so late, so people don't have time to dwell much on the fact that they don't care about us RE fans, the ones who got the franchise where it is is today and care more about it's main target audience now....the COD crowd. When dmc was announced a lot of people were exicted then after some time people got past the brand name and thought "hang on something is wrong here" and have started standing up for wht they believe in, I hope people wake up and get over the fact it's Resident Evil so they can see this is turning to crap the more is known about it.

"Hey Capcom we don't want co-op or a crappy AI partner in the next RE"

"Lets add triple the co-op in RE6 guys.....co-op means more money and money is more important then our crappy fans"

Thanks Capcom....<sigh>

-Mika-4484d ago

Um obviously the majority of you did because RE5 was the best selling game in the series. The co-op in that game made the game appeal to alot of people and it made the series gain alot of new fans.

The Cod crowd you hate so much is saving the gaming industry. The last time i check, games made strictly for core gamers don't sell 5million copies or more. Like i said in another post. If you want game companies to cater to you. Buy hardcore games. Let companies know that they can depend on you to help them gain a profit and be more risky.

PamPoovey4484d ago (Edited 4484d ago )

.....<sigh>

<Ahem> Lets begin shall we

"Um obviously the majority of you did because RE5 was the best selling game in the series."

It was also the only RE title to release across two platforms at the same time, plus lets add to the fact that the game before that, RE4, was absolutely amazing...raising peoples expectations, leading to more sales.

"The co-op in that game made the game appeal to alot of people and it made the series gain alot of new fans"

Please don't lie...the co-op was the most talked about thing about the game. It was so forced and felt tacked on so Capcom could gain more money appealing to a bigger audience while forgetting about their already established fanbase they already had. The new fans were more likely the "COD" crowd Capcom keep mentioning and thats why the decided to take this new route.

"The Cod crowd you hate so much is saving the gaming industry. The last time i check, games made strictly for core gamers don't sell 5million copies or more"

Saving the industry.....more like killing it. Because of COD all developers care about is reaching CODs sale numbers and will do anything they can to do that INCLUDING hurting their own franchise to do that. It has influenced developers into making their games more COD like which steers the game away from it's roots. It's made it so if a good game dosen't get so many units sold then it's a failure.

Seriously, I get people defending a company but don't come out with so much rubbish.

Pozzle4484d ago

Of course Resident Evil 5 was the best-seller in the series. It got a ridiculous amount of advertisement, it appeared on two consoles and PC, and it has the famous "Resident Evil" brand that practically every gamer has heard about. It was guaranteed to sell well, regardless of whether or not it was a good game or whether or not it had co-op.

Pintheshadows4484d ago

The gaming industry didn't need saving. All COD did was bring it to the mainstream in a huge way. Plus COD is actually harming the imagination the industry once held dear. Think of all the modern war FPS' that have emerged since 4. They want so badly to get in on the cashflow originality goes flying out the window and meets pavement/sidewalk at high velocity.

I know risk is dangerous right now but a little originality in story and setting wouldn't go amiss.

honkyjesus4484d ago

Some don't like your answer, but it is the truth.

honkyjesus4484d ago

Pozzle...

RE4 was on three consoles.

NoobSessions4484d ago

Am I the only one who thinks the logo looks like a giraffe getting a BJ?

Pozzle4484d ago (Edited 4484d ago )

"RE4 was on three consoles."

True. And up until RE5's release, RE4 was the highest-selling Resident Evil title of all time. In fact, every Resident Evil game in the main series has sold really well; each game selling well over 3 million copies worldwide.

My point was that the reason RE5 is the highest selling in the series is because the fanbase is growing with each game that is released. People don't buy RE games for their co-op. They buy RE games based on hype, brilliant marketing and a brand name that has been well-known for a decade. RE5 would have sold well regardless of whether it was a co-op game or not.

zero_cool4484d ago

Ahem!..5 million & over...

MGS4 - 5,510,000

GT5 - 7,300,000

Uncharted 2 - 5,320,000

Uncharted 3 - 5,200,000

Shy of 5 million...

God of War III - 4,290,000

Resistance - 4,010,000

Uncharted - 4,020,000

LittleBigPlanet - 4,750,000

Cheers Gamers & Happy Gaming!

ABizzel14483d ago

First off no one knows if it's single player co-op or a separate campaign so just shut up until they announce.

I for one liked Co-op in Resident Evil 5, it allowed me to get people to play the and buy the game who normally wouldn't. That's the power of co-op if you can bring a friend along there's a good chance they'll buy it just to play with you.

slayorofgods4483d ago (Edited 4483d ago )

Talk about stupid. Not just one annoying co-op player to get in my way but 5 to turn this in to a free for all chaotic mess.

The dream this generation; too mooch off of COD's success instead of recapturing the glory of say Resident Evil 1 which also had success.

sikbeta4483d ago

If they make it co-op split-screen or s***, I'll be all over it, I don't give a s*** about online co-op, RE5 co-op was lame imo

dark-hollow4484d ago

Lets be fair, what sucked about RE5 was not the co-op.

RedDead4484d ago (Edited 4484d ago )

I'd prefer it without Co op though. 6 player co op? What? This can't be true...unless it means mercenaries mode or something. I don't want RE to be co op campaign, i'd like single player for the main story.

Also, again in that article abotu Cod...he's talking about ORC. It's stated clearly in the article: http://www.computerandvideo...
Yeah? "He added of Operation Raccoon City: "The dream would be that the millions of Call of Duty fans that are enjoying these fast-paced online games are attracted to this Resident Evil."

Pretty clearly wants cod fans to be attracted to ORC. Res 6 is a different story

Edit--YOu are right STK, the co op was good, but...I want some more horror, and I feel co op will only hinder that area. Capcom said RE6 will have alot of things from old school RE too, which means Horror. I just hope they ain't lying

STK0264484d ago

I loved the co-op in RE5, probably still one of the best co-op experience this generation (haven't tried playing with the AI though; so I can't judge that).

scofios4484d ago (Edited 4484d ago )

dark-hollow,
Is right the problem with re5 wasn't the co-op ,but the fact that the game wasn't scary , it was set during the day who the f**k get scared during the day , no save room ,no scary enemies.

Tdmd4484d ago (Edited 4484d ago )

@dark-hollow

True, but it didn't help it's case either.

fossilfern4483d ago

I had to play the game in Co-op because Sheva was USELESS! I would of preferred the game without Co-op but it was still not a great RE game

vortis4483d ago

I agree. It was basically a run-and-gun, room-and-spawn action shooter.

The complaints about co-op are misaimed. People should be getting on Capcom about IMPROVING the co-op not removing it.

Have we forgotten that Killing Floor is still a scary game even with its 6-15 player co-op? It's the atmosphere, realism and gunplay that makes it scary.

There were a ton of things missing from RE5 that would have made it scarier (i.e,. being at night more, realtime physics, ragdoll physics, sneaky zombies, bosses who were threatening and not stationary, etc., etc., etc.)

Even when I played RE5 by myself (which was rare because it was boring) the game lacked serious atmosphere to be taken seriously as a horror game, with or without co-op.

The co-op in Res 5 was very fun at times and Res 5 was a grat game imo but it just didn't feel like a Res game. Though I don't see what PamPoovey is complaining about here. The 6 person co-op is not for the campaign but an extra feature. Therefore, it is a good addition as I think co-op in horror games has a lot of potential if separated from the single player campaign and done right. Some people just love to hate. Maybe its better to wait until the game releases and then pass judgement?

GraveLord4484d ago

Resident Evil 5 sold more than Resident Evil 4.
People vote with their wallets. The action genre has a much wider appeal than just plain horror. But looking at the RE 6 trailer it looks like it'll have both. Go watch it again.

Tdmd4484d ago (Edited 4484d ago )

@PamPoovey
Really well said - bubbles!

"Saving the industry.....more like killing it. Because of COD all developers care about is reaching CODs sale numbers and will do anything they can to do that INCLUDING hurting their own franchise to do that."

Not to mention this on going mentality that every game must have multiplayer probably is a direct result of the new generation of gamers: the COD crowd...

@-Mika-
"The Cod crowd you hate so much is saving the gaming industry."

Not entirely sure if this wasN'T sarcasm... Whatever, I'll just assume it was.

tigertron4484d ago

I both agree and disagree. I agree with Capcom ignoring its fanbase like Square-Enix etc etc, but I have to admit I did like RE5's co-op. Sheva really wasn't that bad as a partner and she did help me out on quite a few occassions. I also love playing Lost in Nightmares online. It may take fear out but it was a good system.

RE5 is an excellent game, if you're just going to judge it by its gameplay and graphics; but co-op isn't the reason why it got all the hate. It got hate because it was a copy and paste job from RE5, its story wasn't terribly good and it had no horror in it whatsoever. Guys driving on bikes shooting at you and having a cover system fire fight with enemy soldiers is NOT scary. Dead Space to me has replaced Resi as the definitive survival horror franchise now, but I'm still a Resi fan. I still love playing the games (RE5 not so much) and reading books etc.

That said, 6 player co-op sounds ridiculous considering many just want a single player experience. I'm not personally bothered about a 2 player co-op because it did work well, but I wouldn't be unhappy if Resident Evil became single player again (which I'd rather it did).

RE6's trailer started off well. Leon shooting zombies (what appears to be moving whilst walking), new locations etc. Then it went downhill and became some sort of Michael Bay film trailer with explosions and the cover system...

DigitalAnalog4484d ago (Edited 4484d ago )

I would guarantee RE5 would turn out to be a completely different story utilizing both the G-virus and the Las Plagas to create something unique that would not only entertaining but living up to the expectations of hardcore RE fans.

To prove my further confidence, I'm surprised nobody even mentions of Zero. That was the BEST method of a single player utilizing dual-character mechanic that has NEVER been attempted till now.

LastDance4484d ago

name one game with better co-op than RE5? Tacked on? your delirious.

Horny4483d ago

Gears 1-3 had better co op.

cemelc4483d ago (Edited 4483d ago )

Uncharted 2 and 3 and had single player too.

LastDance4483d ago (Edited 4483d ago )

lol gears of war. talk about token. In RE you actually NEED each other.

StanSmith4484d ago

There was no horror in RE4. It was just like RE5 without the coop. Sorry but if you think RE5 started to move away from Horror then you need to replay 4 again. RE4 was not scary at all yet people loved it's new direction.

It seems to me that people are just looking for things to bitch about. RE5 was a good game. It's Co-op was perfect. After Revelations this week, i can't wait to play RE6.

Prototype4484d ago

If 6 ends up being like RE5, this will be the last RE I'll ever play that comes out; I know there's a lot of fans who liked 5 but the scare factor was gone from the co-op.

Looks like I'll wait and see how "The last of us" turns out for my survivor-horror fix.

Styxoric4483d ago

You just summed up everything i was about to say.

StraightPath4483d ago

kaveti66164483d ago (Edited 4483d ago )

"We didn't...sorry seems like I'm speaking for everyone....I'll rephrase that, the majority of us didn't want co-op"

Still wrong. You're not speaking for anyone, and you're not saying anything the majority is saying. You're speaking for yourself, and for yourself only. Don't pretend like you know what the majority of people want, or even the minority.

You joined five days ago and you're talking like you've been here forever. Hmmm.

PamPoovey4483d ago (Edited 4483d ago )

When talking about the "majority" of something your talking about the bigger crowd of people that share the same belief of the subject your talking about....and since there are a lot of gamers in this world who are more then likely to agree with me on the issue at hand thats why I said majority. If you aim what you've said a person or a site then you really are trying to speak for everyone.

I joined five days ago....so, how am I talking like I've been here forever it's not like I'm talking about the site in general in the past tense.

I can say this though, looking throughout your comment history it seems all you ever do on here is put peoples ideas down is a nasty "I know more then you do" attitude. I guess your one of these people who get really mad when someone dosen't share the same opinion as you. Keep that up and you'll be down to one bubble in no time.

Anyway if there was no majoirty I guess I wouldn't of been bubbled up for, not just one but two "Well Said" comments...

Here have a chill out Bear Claw....they're tasty.

Hmm, never tried that. Hope to keep it this way 'till I die...!

Solid_Malone4483d ago (Edited 4483d ago )

dont mind Trainz hes always writing crazy comments. He can be pretty hilarious with the stuff he comes out with but most of the time its pretty freaky :/

D3mons0ul4483d ago (Edited 4483d ago )

Because scary things make you crap yourself? and with co-op you would actually have some "buddies" to share the fear with.

That's my guess.

Pintheshadows4484d ago (Edited 4484d ago )

So what's the point of Operation Raccoon City then?

Also, what pozzle said. Give us a true singleplayer like in 4 and keep the co-op separate. I think if they get the pacing right this could be good but if it's pure action i'll be a little bit disappointed. I'd like some suspense and quiet moments laced with some jumps and atmosphere. Dead Space style I guess. At least then they'll be somewhat of a horror element. Something which was distinctly lacking in 5.

NellyNel_7_1_34484d ago

Agree bubble for this comment...

Tdmd4484d ago

The funny thing is that "Dead Space style" is what RE style used to be. And now, for inspiration, RE should look at DS - which was inspired by RE.
It's the old cicle of originality, huh? Nothing is created, everything is copied. lol

jrbeerman114483d ago

is it possible that we are overreacting and this is just news about Resident evils mercenaries mode?

Least I really hope so. If you absolutely have to have a co op mode, then do what Mass Effect is doing and don't touch the Main Campaign with Co-op.

I find it hard to believe a 6 player co op is on main campaign.

Pozzle4484d ago

I'm ok with a co-op mode...I just hope it isn't forced onto single-player mode too.

thedude444484d ago

coop is cool BUT...

i want that single player dark/evil horror feeling i got in the ps1, ps2, gamecube days...

dredgewalker4484d ago

Agreed, having someone else playing with you reduces the element of fear. I still remember being scared playing Silent Hill with the lights off. RE4 was a real evolution of the series that Capcom should have refined more on the sequels.

jrbeerman114483d ago

Co-op and being scary is entirely impossible, but RE5 definitely wasnt it, and I really dont think Resident 6 would be any different if it was still in campaign.

Co op would be great if you were constantly separated and only heard things going on with teammate at distance, maybe even implement a way to cut mic at certain spots to make you feel more alone.

Or if the only time you came in contact with co op is huge bosses, or only seeing through walls you cannot get through while sharing weapons and ammo.

horror by constant and distant separation could work, but I doubt Re6 would pull it off, maybe a new series or indy game could.

Like i could imagine you co-op partner telling you what hes seeing and likewise, then all of a sudden something jumps at him and you hear a scream and then his mic cut off while hearing a ruckus in the in game sounds. could be cool.

There Will Never Be Another Resident Evil 6 (And That Sucks)

A rough gem that may never get the proper treatment it deserves.

^^ I don't want what the author was smoking.

-Foxtrot411d ago

It’s this thing where after enough time people start coming out to defend bad games for some strange reason

I mean hey if you liked it good for you but it was a f****** awful RE game.

Capcom are finally back on track and now people are crying about their shitty mistakes? No thanks.

RpgSama409d ago

I'd take a full blown remake of RE6 based around a GREATLY expanded Leon part and make it even more horror.

That might be something I would be interested in, do not care about any of the other parts of that game.

MadLad409d ago

I couldn't even get through the demo.
Years later I bought it for $3 for PC. I played about 5 minutes into it and uninstalled it.

babadivad409d ago (Edited 409d ago )

RE6 was better than 5. RE6 just took the series to the conclusion that started with 4.

RE4 was the inaugural title in the action game trilogy.

RE9 will be the likely end of the first person psychological thriller trilogy.

They'll switch it up for RE10 or more likely titled RE-X.

hotnickles409d ago

5 is vastly better than 6 imo

TheEnigma313409d ago

RE5 is way better than 6. Stop lying to yourself

FallenAngel1984411d ago (Edited 411d ago )

“But all this is solely with respect to how fans felt back in 2013 when Resident Evil 6 had just been released. The game resulted in the series getting indefinitely killed off until 5 years later when we got Resident Evil 7 and balance was restored yet again. ”

1.) Resident Evil 6 came out in 2012, not 2013

2.) A series getting killed off means no titles at all released in a time period. Silent Hill, Dead Space, Dino Crisis, Parasite Eve & Siren fans would love to see how you can say RE was on the same level of dormancy. In that 5 year time period we had a number of remasters that kept the series alive and kicking. RE1 02ms remaster even broke sales records during the period between RE6 and RE7.

3. Way to disrespect Resident Evil: Revelations 2. It was released during that RE6-RE7 period. It along with its predecessor were mainline titles that kept the horror roots of the series alive in comparison to RE5 and RE6. RE: R1 in particular even introduced the ability to walk and shoot into the series, a feature we can all be grateful for that in modern RE titles. The director RE: R1 later went on to direct RE7 and the director of RE: R2 later went to to direct the RE2 & RE4 remakes.

Immagaiden411d ago (Edited 411d ago )

“Resident Evil 6 is often maligned as the worst entry in the Resident Evil series and is cited as the cause behind the long death of the franchise.”

Titles in the Resident Evil series such as Survivor, Gaiden, Dead Aim, Outbreak, Operation Raccoon City, Umbrella Corps, & Resistance we’re received far worse than RE6.

And death of the franchise?

RE6 was still one of the most commercially successful games in the series, guaranteeing the franchise’s future. Compare how underwhelming sales of Dead Space 3, Silent Hill: Downpour. Alone in the Dark: Illumination, Dino Crisis 3, Fatal Frame: Maiden in Black Water, Castlevania: Lords of Shadows 2, and Metroid: Other M which caused their respective series to go into a long period of dormancy without any rereleases to even keep activity up.

RE however still had a significant number of titles released and rereleased after RE6. Not only that but development for RE7 started a short time after its predecessor came out, meaning there was never a development time that the series could be considered dead. There hasn’t been a single year that Capcom stopped either developing, releasing, or rereleasing Resident Evil games. Let’s not act like the 5 year period between RE6 and RE7 is such a longer time compared to the 4 year period between RE4 and RE5 as well as RE7 and RE8. We can pretty much expect RE9 in either 2025 or 2026, and you can be certain that Capcom will still release other RE tiles leading up to it

TheEnigma313409d ago (Edited 409d ago )

Man go some where with this. Only a few like this game. Why would they remake a garbage game no one likes risking money because it won't sell? RE 6 is dumpster drippings, sorry.

MIDGETonSTILTS17409d ago
