wow absolutly horrid article...it was disclaimer after disclaimer.

The article is written from someone who came to the series at part 4 has ZERO understanding of the series roots. The writter seems to be on an island of his own because now there are some major flaws that need to be over looked...um yeah ok I guess every other gamer, journalist and critic got it completely wrong right.

The writter continues to push a very long winded arguement that fans should be upset when he really isn't a fan of the series or he would have gone back and played the earlier entries...part of being a true fan of a franchise not the current idea of being a fan which is it's cool now so I'll play the game and call myself a fan.

I'm really not trying to bash but they kind of articles attempting to start trash throwing are just super sad and make us journalists look pathetic at what we love to do.

I miss when Resident Evil made me shit my pants.

RE5 couldnt do that, too much action and not enough horror and suspense.

And now RE6 seems to be taking that even further. As a long time fan, I hope they do this right and make it a good horror game.

if u are a punk then u crapped ur pants, games arent scary lmao, old RE games had horrible control and combat so you had to battle the controls to dodge the zombie since it moved slower than a snail.

the games were puzzle games back then in a suvivor horror setting, people love the nostalgia thats it.

while the atmosphere sucked in re5 it was still the funnest (aslong as you had a partner)

re6 looks amazing

I personally think it looks awesome. We get horror, RE4-style gameplay with Leon, more action gameplay with Chris, and whatever type of gameplay that is with the new guy.

I agree with his premise. But, man, take a look around, does it surprise you. Somewhere, at some time, the creators sat around a table and voted. How many want to go back to the horror roots and everyone raised their hand. Then the boss came in and asked, how many of u want a job next year or want to make another game? U can say silent hill maintains its spirit but we will have to check sales numbers and see which of these games sells better. Every franchise haa moved in this direction to Garner sales. Its simple. Games cost too much to make not to recoup their money. In the case of cornerstone games that companies rely on, it isn't even up for discussion anymore. So look for an action game more like uncharted with super high production values ...and phdnkmonal sales...which will prove its success to the only ppl that matter anymore...shareholders.

Resident Evil 6 may have moved toward action over survival horror and I'm OK with that - as long as it is better than the awful RE5 (hint: make co-op optional in the campaign)

Dead Space took its place in the survival horror category anyway.

Again, how do you KNOW the horror elements will either be watered down or nonexistant? How do you know it won't be scary? Because the gameplay is action oriented? Because your p.o.v is over the shoulder? Because you have an obnoxious need to compare every third person shooter to Gears of War and think that the game must also lack in substance because of the gameplay?

What if the story is good? What if it's relevant to the story of the old games? What if the big government conspiracy comes back? What if you get to explore, read notes and learn more about the world around you?

I just don't see how any kind of gameplay change could possibly detract from the overall substance of the game. RE5 lacked because Shinji Mikami wasn't involved. That's literally what made RE5 so bad (Imagine Foo Fighters without Dave Grohl or Pink Floyd without Roger Waters or David Gilmore). Take a look at who made RE4 and 5. You'll see some glaring differences.

So...even if the game has all of the elements you loved about the old games except for the gameplay and camera angle it's shit because it doesn't live up to your nostalgia? If that's the case then does the story even matter to you?

The detractors just don't make any sense in this case. I understand WHY you might be skeptical but really? fan backlash because they actually look like they are trying to wrap the series up (The trailer definitely feels like a finale) by including elements that everybody will enjoy?
