Four Reasons You'll Never See an HD Final Fantasy VII Remake

Give up. It's not going to happen. Square Enix is not making and will not produce a Final Fantasy VII remake. Series diehards jump at even the merest hint that their dream game might exist, but all the fan-love in the world can't change the four reasons below.

Wada needs to be fired man... He's a nutcase and it's clear he cannot do his job and lead the company. Toriyama needs to stop making games as well, let Nomura handle the Final Fantasy franchise and most everyone will be happy. Also, give Nobuo a blank check, tell him to write a number for his pay, and get him back!! I love Yoko, but Nobuo needs to do FF, or have them both work on the titles at the same time.

The remake would have to rake in money like the CoD games for it to be worthwhile. Seriously, a game this big would take a lot of resources and divert them from making other games. If they were to shorten the game, it may feel like a different experience.

Why do we care so much? Why can't we just move on and hope (there is little) that they can get their act together and make another great FF7? The game is over ten years old and for those that havent played it in as much time, there is no way you will love it like you loved it when you played it back then.

Not saying its impossible but at this point it is just improbable. If they get bored and want to do it for the fans then maybe but the flip side is the fans want it to much so they know they got you.

Except you're 100% wrong. I still play FFVII, FFVIII, FFIX, and FFT and love them all just as much as when I first played them. I don't care how they look. I don't care how they sound. I love the PSOne FF games. I want a remake of each and every title.

Sony has significant console publishing rights to Final Fantasy 7 in the American and European regions.

Sony is not going to relinquish this without serious and severe negotiations, and it would need to be for a VERY good reason, and a "just because we at Square-Enix want to" doesn't fall into the very good reason category.

I believe this line couldn't be further from the truth. FFVII is arguably the best FF ever created. After seeing the HD trailer, I expected a remake for the PS3 regardless of the money involved. Hopefully, someone will help them out and invest into the greatest remake ever created. Yes this is opinionated but I believe like many others believe this game would sell millions easy (if they took the time and produced a good product).

The funny thing is if they just took the Crisis engine and made a PSP/PSV level remake, fans would - likely - be happy with it.

Its that they painted themselves into a corner with that HD mock trailer.

Hell yes I would be fine with that! That's what I've been saying... Don't go full on HD like FFXIII. Just make it look like FFX or something, I'd be fine with that. (Though with proper voice overs lol) Crisis Core engine would work beautifully though.

If the don't make it at some point, they are doomed to turn into another great company that becomes a shitty one. It happened a lot in this current generation. And FFXIII demonnstrates very clearly how they are not the same company they used to be in past ages. At some point they will have two choices: make the damn remake or deal with it's own stock crysis and maybe a possible aquisition by a bigger company so they can continue to exist (but never the same again, thats for sure)

I don't see why they can't remake it but not as they shown on the tech demo.
Remake it with HD graphics and FF8,9,10,12,13 like in terms of graphics (ie: not sprites).

It's not only about the graphics. Have you heard the sound on FFVII? Have you heard those same songs played by a full orchestra? Imagine the music from FFVII with the same resources as FFXIII. I want that.

For one, the fans will never be satisfied. In today's world, people build up so much hype for these games that it's hard to live up to it, even in a perfect game.

For another, there are certain things that wouldn't translate well to HD. Red in a suit, anyone?

And, frankly, I'm tired of hearing about VII at all. Yeah, it was a great game. Yeah, I enjoyed it. But it's had two other games, a feature film, and countless other media; VII is bigger than FF, and it really shouldn't be.
