New Xbox 360 Exclusive Announced

TQ author writes: A new Xbox 360 exclusive has been announced. Deadlight is set in a apocalyptic world where there is no reason to exist, a man crosses the American west coast. Surviving is much more than a daily routine in this original cinematic puzzle platformer. Check out the images and release.

So this is to contend with "The Last Of Us" I would think, interesting

zeal0us4489d ago

One is a XBLA title the other is full ps3 game, doubt there will be any competition between the two.

Other than that the game seem somewhat interesting.

Title is slightly misleading.... Should say exclusive xbla game

PandaJenkins4489d ago

This certainly sounds promising.

"Cinematic" my hopes dropped right there. Its like a movie consisting of only text to be more like a book. Let me do all the actions instead of doing everything in a quick time event or cut scene. It has that final fantasy effect of popping up 50 enemies then going "No you dont get to fight them! you get to sit there and watch as the character flips around one shoting them and even if we do let you fight them theyll certainly take atleast 20 shots removing any of the spectical of it!". Similar games with this problem are the UC series, Heavy Rain, CoD and BF3's campaigns.

Horaaaaay for Yahtzee

Active cinematic experiences are fantastic. All those games you listed are critical darlings and best sellers. How is that a bad thing? Just because you dont control every facet of the game doesn't mean it's a hand holding title.

As a matter of fact, I'd say that cinematic video games have taken the video game industry to a whole new level of artistic expression.

And if you didn't like Heavy Rain, then you are the kind of person the developers were NOT aiming at.

scrambles4489d ago

If theyre just trying to be movies cant they just make movies? doesnt that mean the dev isnt good enough to basically make a "videogame". If in a 10 years everything just boils down "cinematic videogames" that involve the player as little as possible, perhaps just a series of QTEs basically UC series but even less gameplay. This seems to defy the very nature of a videogame. Bioshock was basically videogame art in a nut shell and how many QTE cut scenes that did all the fighting for you were there in that game? Same for Silent hill 2 that game told a story with almost not talking at all! I believe its just laziness on a developer's part for not figuring out a different way of telling a story or make it look more spectacular. Videogames should be videogames not movies.

Asthenos4489d ago

@ UniformedInformer

If the problem is just "laziness" on the developer's part then why don't you go and try to come up with a new way of telling a story? Like DMason said, all those titles you listed are awesome games and the devs already work incredibly hard in order to bring us the things we enjoy. Just give them a break already. It's not like it's incredibly simple to come up with an entirely new way to tell a story that hasn't been used/cliched already.

krazykombatant4489d ago

nice to hear, but until i see a gameplay video or something more, I won't really care about it.

Half-Mafia4489d ago

360 fans probably got really excited when they saw the headline. Then they find out its a XBLA title. Well atleast its not another Kinect game :)

DiRtY4489d ago

I had some of the best gaming experiences thanks to XBLA games.

but yeah, "Kinect does not count" just met his older brother "Xbox Live Arcade does not count!"

Red Dead 2 ? Who would ever want to play that slow ass bloated overly long game twice ! Not to mention going through those awfully designed main missions.

Storm23377d ago

Agreed. I couldn't even finish it the first time.

DankSinatra377d ago

I mean, I did. I enjoyed every bit of the 3 times I played through it. Just because you didn’t enjoy it doesn’t mean others won’t. Not every game is for everyone.

Demetrius377d ago

Ikr I thoroughly enjoyed red dead 2 one of the best open world games

Levii_92377d ago

But the first game is one of my favourite games ever.. i have no idea what happend with the second game but Rockstar needs to change it’s game design, especially how those main missions are designed. It’s severly outdated. Oh and actually make the gameplay enjoyable and not so slow and clunky.

Believe me, I recently replayed the first one and it’s worse in both structure and game design. Don’t let nostalgia misplace that. RDR 2 is definitely an improvement but it’s rockstar in general that needs to open up their handholding on missions.

anast377d ago

I got almost 700 hrs in that game. so, here is at least one person.

Some games have good incentives for multiple playthroughs but you can never beat experiencing it for the first time. Caelid for the first time? Mindblowing. Second time around it's just Caelid again.

Abear21377d ago

Bioshock, Skyrim, and Darkest Dungeon for me

gold_drake377d ago

definitely the Soul games and Bloodborne haha.
