Platinum Hits: Amy Review

Platinum Hits writes: "Amy is based around a concept that most developers fail to implement. Some sort of infection has descended on the city as Lana is trying to get a young girl, Amy, away from a research facility. Amy is an autistic child with special powers that go far beyond what movies and TV have led you to believe is normal for persons with autism. Lana must protect Amy by fighting off the Infected and navigating the levels while calling on Amy to perform special tasks like crawling through vents, hacking computers and using magic glyphs."

Are these people serious? Who are gamers more likely to believe, the one 9.2/10 or the thousand 2/10 reviews?

brettyd4488d ago

Apparently one gamer believes the 9.2...

I am not that gamer.

gawd I hate these idiotic sites that give the complete opposite score from the rest to just stand out for hits!? I feel sorry for any followers of this site.

@vitz3

" Just because smaller websites don't have the recognition like IGN, Gamespot, Giantbomb etc. it doesn't mean they have less of an opinion. They have the same qualifications as any other reviewer, they can put a disc in a console and play a damn game. So can anyone else. "
No. It seems that every time a review is posted someone always comments. "Well that's just like his opinion" or something of those lines.
And that is not what a game review should be, it shouldn’t be all subjective, shouldn’t be based alone on how much "fun" the reviewer had. There are a lot of very concrete objective thing the reviewer can point out (Especially in the gaming media, compared to other medias like books and films) And sites like Gamespot and Giantbomb have better qualifications then blogs and part time reviewers.
First of all have much more experience with the media. And second, because they don't need the hits and pages views as much as the bloggers, and therefor they have way less of a reason to post controversial stories and reviews.
Last of all, the big sites have systems in palace to ensure the quality of the review, editors and proof readings. Reviewers at Gamspot have to discuss the review score with the editor (Justin Calvert) before posting the review. Resources that most smaller sits simply don't have.

To think that all reviews are equally valid, and that opinions are “just” opinions, are naïve. But yes in the end your own opinion is the most important, but most people don’t have 60$ to spent for every game that comes out, just so that they can form an “opinion ” them self.

Look at their other reviews:

Uncharted 3 = 7.9
Skyrim = 8.9
Zelda SS = 8.4

and

Amy = 9.2

Every other site gives it a 1 or a 2, but nooooo this site gives it Skyrim numbers. I wont even click on the site. The DO NOT deserve my hit. I wonder how much they got paid off? or how much they know they are full of chit? Complete joke of a review. My grandmother could do better.

Heartnet4487d ago

hehe if you read the review ud be in for a chuckle :)

It is a sarcastic review:)

arnyftw4488d ago

What are you talking about? This game is obviously GOTY

rezzah4487d ago

Depends on the opinion of the majority.

So 1 person really enjoyed the game, does that mean their opinion is false or wrong?

Obviously no.

Even if the majority dislikes a game there will always be someone who enjoys it.

TheNocturnus4488d ago

Yeah, I have this game, it's no 9.2/10. The game is pure garbage, I wasted 800MS points on it.

Blaine4488d ago

^I'll believe that over any review score any day! Thanks for saving me the money.

Why o why4488d ago

Definitely

Ill also add that rage isnt bad at all. My feelings towards it were definitely swayed by the fact I only paid £12.99 for it. I just about pick up lunch for that.

unknownhero11234488d ago

tell me about it. what ruins it for me is the controls and the unforgiving checkpoint system. half the time, amy won't use her abilities when I tell her to.

TheoreticalParticle4488d ago (Edited 4488d ago )

"Amy is an autistic child with special powers that go far beyond what movies and TV have led you to believe is normal for persons with autism."

OH SHIT! I knew there was this global autism cover-up! All those autists are hiding their superpowers because the Illuminati plans to unleash them upon us!

I think that's all of the review that anyone needs to read to understand that this is either tongue-in-cheek or completely bullshit.

lashes2ashes4488d ago

No shit I have aspergers so were is my super power. I want to shout people to dust.

Cyb3r4488d ago

I also have Aspergers Syndrome if I had the power to shout something to dust it would be that game.

Kran4488d ago

I have aspergers too. I always knew there was a power inside me.

Oh i so hope it's time travel ^^

admiralvic4488d ago

Shame. I got Aspergers too and I just manage to make 90% of the people around me hate me lol. I suppose that is super in it of its self.

RememberThe3574488d ago

Haha damn, how many people on this site have Aspergers?

Yui_Suzumiya4488d ago

@admiralvic

Ha! I beat you. I have Aspergers as well, yet 100% usually tend to hate me. Including my wife, son, in-laws and co-workers!

Pintheshadows4488d ago

I'm dyslexic and thought you were all discussing asparagus. Is that a superpower?

SwampCroc4487d ago

My neighbor down the street has a son with Aspergers. I should tell him about N4G so you guys can welcome him!

Kakihara4487d ago

"I'm dyslexic and thought you were all discussing asparagus" ... Fucking hilarious, if I didn't have Asperger's I'd kiss you.

turning point had a really great story / concept... it just was very generic in its game play.

LucasRuinedChildhood99d ago (Edited 99d ago )

Haze is a bad game but Turning Point: Fall Of Liberty makes it seem like a captivating work of art. haha. Fuck that game

Shellshock 2: Blood Trails isn't on this list but it might be the worst game I've ever played. I got it as a present from my mam and when I saw the box, my life flashed before my eyes thinking of the Metacritic score: https://www.metacritic.com/...

I also received Turning Point: Fall Of Liberty as a present from another family member. Bless their hearts for trying but ... oh Lord. My uncle gave my Prince Of Persia: Sands Of Time and MGS2 though. 😎

DarXyde99d ago (Edited 99d ago )

Was it really that bad? I recall trying the demo and not liking it, but that's just me not liking FPS games.

People I know who played it and like FPS games mostly came to the conclusion that it has a lot of room for improvement, but it's not nearly as bad as it's made out to be.

Don't know, my opinion on these games should be taken with a grain of salt.

mastershredder99d ago

Oof! yeah, Ride was a huge fumble they tried to market twice.
Haven Fall of the King was dog-shi7-tastic and should be a runner up to some of those.
I'd even nominate Legend of Kay. Heh Haze... there is no excuse for that one (just pretend Haze did not happen).

What's kinda funny about this is, that I have a theory that all these electronics are what are causing autism. You think back to about a generation ago and autism wasn't that wide spread, or we just didn't diagnose it. I feel that since all electronics put out an emf field that it can have adverse affects on a developing brain. No data or anything for this, just a theory I have.

ravinash2469d ago

It's only been in the last generation or two where metal health has been a thing that can be documented.
A lot more studies are going into it so we're understanding it better.
In the old days, people would have lived their entire lives with things like autism and not even know it.
After all most people who have autism are on the extreme end of the spectrum, so it might not always be obvious.

meka26112469d ago

Yea that's a good point, we still have a very long way to go in diagnosing and treating mental disorders. It's just very hard to do that, but I totally agree with you.
