I received an email today from MS stating that I will be getting this weekends card for free, pleasantly surprised to be honest.

Yep I got an email yesterday giving me access to this weekends UFC event free and one month of Xbox Live for free.
Great news for US 360 users.
As a European I don't really care though, UFC gives us all the events for free in HD :)
unlike sony that gave me a stupid game i never wanted when their online got hacked and i missed out on netflix for a couple of months :P... Yes I said it! Bring the rage!
When Microsoft announced that it was partnering with the Ultimate Fighting Championship league – and its president Dana White – for an Xbox Live channel, I have to admit that I was intrigued. While the UFC clearly isn’t for some audiences (think of it as “extreme boxing”, where brutality or catching your opponent in the proper submission technique is key for a win), fans would surely appreciate the opportunity to check out their favorite fighters and upcoming pay-per-views from the convenience of their console. But now that their service is out, it’s time to see if it’s a knockout – or something that taps out.
Really depressing to hear it went so poorly... was SO looking forward to this service!
The fight was really something else too! It's too bad the service didn't live up to expectations... Maybe it was just first day jitters?

I would hardly call the service a total failure, when a specific event had technical issues. Previous event worked like a charm for me with no issues what so ever.
I didn't have any issues what so ever and the HD broadcast was awesome and "FREE".
The only thing that sucked was that brock lesner didn't even try, but since his health issues/diagnosis he's not been the same beast that he was.

Ha, Brock tried. Allister is just that good. There is MMA and there is UFC. UFC is one orginization. It's the best, but there are a ton of great fighters overseas. Overeem has proven himself time and time again. If he wins the UFC belt, He will be the Strikeforce/K1/UFC heavyweight champ. Overeem is SAGAT
It wasn't just a "few thousand people," it was 30,000 - all free. 5,000 of those tickets were offered an hour or two before the event, which I assume is what caused the problems. Nobody was allowed to actually purchase the event, so it's hardly worth writing an article about just to complain. Things will get fleshed out.
It's also worth noting (and I see others have noted it as well) that because of the technical difficulties, those who got a free ticket will get to watch another upcoming event for free. Something this article fails to mention.
Oh wow! They see official Tweets from the people responsible for UFC on Xbox Live and they still disagree. If this proof isn't enough, maybe we can get Overeem to personally explain the problems to the disagree posse.

It was UFC 141 that crapped out. It became a sinking ship unfortunately.
I believe this one was the first publicly available show as well.
The previous ones was limited to Beta participants only that registered on time i.e. a small subsection.
Anyhow, MS are making it up by giving you a free event in the future.

Yea. A friend of mine invited me to UFC140 and that went extremely well. This one, it just seems botched due to technical difficulties.
But yea, at least they are making it up by going with another free event.
I wasn't able to get in on the UFC 141, but the free UFC 139 and 140 was both flawless experience.
Sounds like they are only having a technical issue, but apparently it has been tweeted that people signed up will get to see another free UFC event in the future.
Wish I was part of this free event....
edit: I also want to add that MS/UFC has a toll free live technical support phone line you can call if you have problems.
Yeah, good to see they are giving something free for those who had issues.
