IGN: The Most Exciting PlayStation 3 Games of 2012

It's a new year, and that means there are a bevy of new games coming out in the months ahead. Rather than just rant about what we're excited for on Podcast Beyond -- the No. 1 independent PlayStation podcast -- the IGN PlayStation Team went into a room and ordered its picks for the most exciting games of 2012. We began with a list of every game coming out this year, trimmed it, and voted. These are our ordered choices and why we can't wait to play them. Sound off with your list in the comments below.

Another strong year of gaming this year, especially for PS3 gamers. I'm also getting Vita, I know I should probably wait, but I'm too impatient and already hyped up for it =). I once again have to pick and choose which games I want this year.

Games I'm getting for sure:
Twisted Metal, GTA V, Mass Effect 3, Diablo III, BioShock Infinite, Starcraft 2 HotS, DOTA 2, UC GA, and The Last Guardian.

Other games to consider:
Max Payne 3, FarCry 3, Resident Evil ORC, Soul Calibur V, Halo 4, Ni No Kuni, Journey, Yakuza DS, Starhawk, Sorcery, The Last of Us, FF XIII-2, Hitman Absolution, SSX, Ninja Gaiden, UFC 3, Street Fighter x Tekken, DUST 514 and Tomb Raider

Hopefully they announce God of War IV, and Sony Title Fight. And hopefully we get more info on FF vs XIII, and Agent. I still got plenty of games to finish up so I can wait =)

DUST 514 is the most exciting game on PS3 along with The Last of Us and TLG if this comes out this year.

I'd swap out Tomb Raider for Aliens Colonial Marines. Main reason being the awesome drop-in co-op campaign.

I'm excited with The Last of Us and TLG. But right now, i'm more excited with titles such as Tales of Graces F and Ni no Kuni. I think this games need more spotlight so gamers not just skip them entirely, specially for gamers who luv great JRPG.

I'm also focused on getting Ni No Kuni and Tales of Graces: F and probably FFXIII-2 down the line once I see more of their future planned DLCs.

I just want to make sure they don't come out with a Complete collection on me if SE starts putting episodic DLCs on FFXIII-2. ^^

Well...you knew SE and their Final Mix / International edition, so don't count out a complete edition of FF 13-2. But did you already play the demo? Personally, i'm not sure i will buy 13-2...

Well I'm giving FFXIII-2 a chance since I got to play Radiant Historia and it seems they are copying that more than they are copying Chrono Trigger (regarding the time travel thing.)

So it looks promising but I won't just put my money into it, if it has episodic DLCs.

If the DLCs are just monsters or costumes then it won't be a big deal but if they do follow through with their character DLC + side story then, I'm willing to wait for a complete edition (if that ever happens) or wait for the price of the game to drop then buy the DLC afterwards.

That way it won't cost me too much and I will have money for other games like Last of Us and Last Guardian to name a few.

Agreed. Surprised there was no mention of Starhawk, especially considering the history with Warhawk and an already playable beta. Can't wait to try Zones on some large maps.

Conversely I haven't seen much of anything from Tomb Raider since E3 and we don't even know if GTA5 will drop in 2012, yet they made the list.

Ni No Kuni I'd forgotten about. Great visual style, that one.
