Diehard GameFAN: 10 Thoughts On…The Asura’s Wrath Demo

DHGF: Asura’s Wrath is the newest game developed by CyberConnect2. They’re probably best known for making licensed Naruto games based on the anime & manga series. Our own Aaron Sirois has reviewed them all and he’s found them ranging from mediocre (Naruto Shuppiden: Ultimate Ninja Impact) to enjoyable (Naruto Ultimate Ninja Heroes 2: The Phantom Fortress games. However, there’s a big difference between developing games based on anime (which people tend to have low expectations for) and developing one of Capcom’s biggest titles for the first quarter of 2012. The demo of Asura’s Wrath hit PSN today and after spending some quality time with it, here are ten quick thoughts about what I encountered.

CC2 is probably better know for their dot hack games. Just saying.

Lucario4517d ago

AT this point in their career, they've actually done more Naruto games.

Kenshin_BATT0USAI4516d ago

Really? Bleh.

Honestly I've played two of their Naruto games, didn't like them that much. Their dot hack games are much better.
They should probably try making an original rpg.

imagine If pornography was full of QTE

@Vashlion, that's exactly what I was going to say, Cyberconnect2, was making .hack// games, long before Naruto!

It appears the writer of this article is unaware of that. One's thoughts on Asura's Wrath is really a personal preference! The only thing that can be stated with certainty is how the gameplay mechanics are, which are (even as QTE's) solid! The visuals of the game are anime like, therefore, if an anime fan were looking at and or playing it, they would be expecting some anime type action! Asura's Wrath provides that, which if it didn't, then it would be something anime fans, would be quick to point out, it doesn't have! The QTE/Combat setup is no different than Shenmue, this was only a demo. The two battles that were playable were boss (main character) battles. I really don't think you'll be doing QTE's on average enemies!

Kenshin_BATT0USAI4516d ago

The QTEs are definitely similar to Shenmue's although that was an extremely small aspect of that game. However it seems like they decided not to show a bulk of the game mechanics that has me worried.

I had no idea Binary Domain was backwards compatible. I know what I'm downloading.

I would like El Shaddi, Afterburner Climax, and outrun 2 please. I am sure that there are other games as well but those came to mind for me right now.
