Most of us are aware that Silent Hill: Downpour failed to deliver on its original release time when last November came and went without even a mention of its release. However, as the new release date enters our radar (scheduled March launch) the game’s producer, Devin Shatsky, alongside the development team, has revealed some interesting new directions the series will be taking in this next big release.
First off, Downpour looks to be going back to the game-design of earlier installments – placing a focus on the world and enemies and their connection to Murphy’s (the protagonist) background. The goal seems to be an aim for realism – they’ll be limits placed on how much you can carry; weak weapons will break; weather will change and, presumably, influence the monsters that are encountered... Overall, it seems like Downpour will be going in a direction which encourages gamers to explore; a wonderful facet of the survival horror genre...
A breakdown of the best Silent Hill Characters that inspired and frightened gamers.
The sirens are sounding again, beckoning you back to the foggy ghost town as we rank all the Silent Hill games, from the chilling classics to the misguided missteps.
I mostly disagree with Downpour's position. Yeah, the game is not amazing by any stretch of the imagination but is much better than the HD Collection and Homecoming. The main issue is the performance, but that was mitigated by the patches, especially on the PS3. Personally, I put it a little behind Origins and The Room.
Having Restless Dreams as a different entry from Silent Hill 2 is also a choice.
silent hill 2 is definitely the best one out of those.
for me personally, the whole ritual/cult stuff was always so weird to me in all the other games.
No disrespect but I put SH2 over 1. 1 is fantastic, but 2 took it all up a level.
The Ghetto Gamer has been predicting and tracking PS3 prices over the past year. The last few months have seen a massive spike in the pricing of PS3 games, and it may be too late to pick up some of the more rare and hard-to-find ones at a reasonable price. Some of these are nuts.
Again, seen this coming from the start, glad I already bought everything I wanted over the years 👌
Stil remember selling ps3 titles to buy a PS4. but i keept the ones i liked more. Did the same with the titles of the PS4 to get a PS5.
"In fact, Shatsky admits these monsters were one of the mistakes of Homecoming (the 6th installment of the series, 2007): “introducing monsters from previous games...didn’t really make sense. The core fans called us out on that, and rightfully so.”
Hmmm, did not know that was an issue. Personally, it never crossed my mind that it "didn't make sense". But, than (then?) again, I'm one of the very few people who actually enjoyed Homecoming...
I've heard that your inventory is pretty limited for realism's sake, so you won't be able to carry 20 health drinks and not face repercussions anymore. Seems ok to me, but I think I'll miss having infinite pockets sometimes.
I really hope that they'll deliver a good game.. Homecoming was ok game to me like a horror game, but not too much like a Silent Hill.. other thing I really enjoyed Origins and Shattered memories, so I hope that this one is a good too..
