NFL Blitz Review | Trendy Gamers

Trendy Gamers: I have to admit that I never really played the NFL Blitz games back in the day. Sure, I played them every once in a while, but I didn’t sit down for lengthy periods of time and actually get into them. This was due to the fact that I was really into hockey and the NHL Hitz series more than satisfied my need for over the top sports action. With this new HD version of NFL Blitz, it hasn’t replaced NHL Hitz as my favourite arcade sports game, but it is still a lot of fun.

I actually never played them so I wouldn't be able to answer you. Was it pretty much the same thing as Blitz just hockey?

Yeah, it was just a super crazy game of hockey where you could have a team of horses or cows and you could check someone through the glass with pretty much every hit. It was awesome.

I loved the blitz games up until 2001 for the N64.

When NFL Blitz rebooted under EA Sports in 2012, with the franchise's creator back on the case, it lacked nearly all of the oomph that made the 1997 original so appealing, even to non-sports fans. No late hits, no over-the-top bodyslams. Quarterbacks weren't really sacked so much as they were shoved to the ground. Receivers were hip-checked and stumbled to the turf.
