I don't see why terra brandford isn't on this list

NewMonday4501d ago

all the main characters of FF6. that game was a pioneer in storytelling in games, it did the ensemble cast adventure long before Lost and Heroes, everyone had his moment, and everyone can be considered a main character.

"I don't see why terra brandford isn't on this list "

I do: the author didn't put her on the list.

It was written by one "Heath Hooker" (lol that's really his name) and apparently, research reveals he does not share your (and my) highly favorable opinion of Terra.

Number's 1 and two were a given......but no Sid or Kefka?

Fail list.

Son_Lee4501d ago (Edited 4501d ago )

No Tifa?! She's easily my favorite FF character. She has EVERYTHING you can want in a woman and a character. She's strong-willed, takes care of Cloud when he's going through an identity crisis, and becomes the emotional rock that holds all of FF7 together post-disc 1. Oh, and her figure is kinda nice, too. :))

Tanir4501d ago

cloud, tifa, sephiroth, squal and Eclair Farron are my fav!

Capt-FuzzyPants4501d ago

When did we figure out Claie Farron was her name anyway I don't remember.

jthamind4501d ago (Edited 4501d ago )

horrible list. Squall and Tidus are two of the worst Final Fantasy characters ever. and i don't know how Lightning is on the list when she wasn't even the best character in her game. and where's Kefka and Terra?

MrWiggle4501d ago (Edited 4501d ago )

Squall isn't a horriable character, he has some of the best character development in a FF game. How it's spread between all four discs and the fact that you can actually see him changing is amazing...from this cold, hearted, selfish jerk to this brave heroic leader who has opened himself up to his new found friends and girl he loves. Oh and if your going to use the whole "emo" thing don't bother, since the game shows you why Squall is the person we meet at the start of the game, thanks to flashbacks and everything he went through

I'm guessing like many others your judging the Squall from the person we meet at the beginging of the game, not the Squall and charater in general he becomes at the end of the game...missing out on the development of his character and personality

But I will agree Lightning is a bland, boring and depressing character how the hell could she ever be on a top FF character list is beyond me

jthamind4501d ago

you call that character development? lol. moving on....

TurretKiller4501d ago

So let me get this straight jthamind, a character who goes through a strory and changes completely from the person we first met at the start of the game/film/book is NOT character development...........really.

If your actually being serious and not just saying that because your obviously one of those FF8 haters who hate on the game for no reason, then you mustn't have a clue what character development really is. Hate to see how well you would have done of your English Literature exam. What the guy says is correct, it is character development whether you like it or not, you can't just ignore it because you hate the game, it makes you look stupid.

Aerith is the original translation.

knifefight4501d ago

It can go either way because "th" isn't in Japanese, whereas "Aeris" is actually a type of flower.
The original Japanese is エアリス, which is "e-a-ri-su." No "th" to be found in there.

So while they may have printed the Engrish "Aerith" in their Japanese manuals back in 1997, going by the pronunciation, her names is actually much closer to "Aeris" than "Aerith."

Though by that same token, "Cloud" would be "Crowdo," so...
It goes both ways ^_^

I don't think 10 spots are enough...

knifefight4501d ago

10 spots aren't enough for a top 10 anymore? Damn economy. Used to be you could get 12 spots on a top 10. It's the fugging government's problem. I'm moving to Canada.

Final Fantasy I Pixel Remaster – Step Back in Time

Gary Green said: It’s interesting to revisit the roots of your favorite franchises to see first-hand what’s changed and what’s stuck around all these years, though perhaps ‘visit’ would be more accurate than ‘revisit’ since apparently, Europe wasn’t worthy of the original six Final Fantasy games the first time around. By the time we started getting ports of these iconic games, we’d already been through the PSOne JRPG golden age. So we’d already seen the best of what Final Fantasy had to offer, while these predecessors looked outdated, unrefined, and (dare I say it) ugly. We aren’t bitter about the delayed releases, honest…
