Nintendo Okie - Top 10 Games of 2011 [Multi-Platform]

Gaz: While the Wii spent most of the year gathering dust and the 3DS spent a good portion of the Summer offering very little, 2011 has actually turned out to be a fine year for gamers. The end of year rush has provided us with some all-time classic games to add onto a strong roster from the opening months of the year, leaving us all with a good feeling about 2012 and beyond.

On the Wii, the big game was of course Skyward Sword, proving exactly what the console could and should have been doing all these years, and perhaps vindicating the vision that Nintendo had with the Wii back in 2006. 2011 was also the year that the 3DS launched, and while the first 6 months are months that most system owners want to forget, the end of the year has been home to a lot of genuinely brilliant games. But the 3DS’s story brings up a key point about 2011 – it was a year of great success for Nintendo, but it was also a year where months went by without any releases, and that is something we need to avoid in the future.

So, after a year like that, 10 games have somehow managed to pull themselves above the rest and make it onto my top 10 list. As ever, these games were all released in 2011, but I’d like to make a special mention of the Mass Effect series which I discovered for the first time this year, a series which instantly captivated me with its brilliance and scope. Face Raiders also deserves a special mention for keeping me sane during the long games drought over the Summer. Who would have thought such a simple game could be so much fun?

Here we go then, my top 10 games of 2011.
