They're really pumping out these Yakuza games now...

I feel Sega should keep em coming. Great franchise, but the only glaring issue is the overuse of textboxes in order to forward the story instead of actual voiced character interaction. The textboxes take away some of the immersion you have from the experience.

..then again, the reason Yakuza games can have over 100 side missions is because of the use of textboxes. Imagine how much more money would have to be paid to voice actors in order to voice EVERY conversation in a Yakuza game! Don't know if Sega would be willing to do that.

Completely agree. It's very annoying when they do it between great cinematics.
One thing I'm hoping for is that they hire better translators. Sometimes I pick up what they say in Japanese and the translation completely misses it.

It's amazing how fast they make these games. Yakuza 3, Yakuza Kenzan, Yakuza 4, Yakuza Dead Souls and now Yakuza 5.

That's great,so I suppose we'll have to wait until March or September 2013 for an english release

I want the English version Yakuza Zombie of the End first O_o

They really need to do something with the environments - everything seems so plastic and dead - there's virtually no interactivity and everything is so lifeless. It really detracts from the immersion.

Sega sells Relic and will cut 240 jobs across UK studios

GamesIndustry.biz writes: "Relic is best known for the Company of Heroes and Dawn of War games, and recently developed the new Age of Empires for Microsoft. Relic will transition to an independent studio and will no-longer be part of the Sega group of studios.

The majority of the 240 job cuts are across Creative Assembly and Sega Europe, while there will be a ‘small number’ cut from Sega HARDLight. There was no mention of other Sega UK studios, including Two Point Studios and Sports Interactive."

Shame about Creative Assembly, they should have just been allowed to do an Alien Isolation sequel.

just_looken42d ago

It was that garbage coh 3 that did them in only a special team can make a sequel worse in every way even though it was a 10 year gap and the same era.

gold_drake42d ago

I hope they find new jobs in the industry soon.

Two Point Studios and Sports Interactive probably run on a shoe string budget so that fits into SEGA better lol

Sega had such a turbulent existence from the mid-90s to when they dropped out of console manufacturing entirely in 2001, it’s understandable if you’ve never heard of the Genesis Nomad.
