Ken McKown writes: Sometimes, it is still hard for me to believe that Duke Nukem Forever actually released this year. It’s even harder to imagine that single player DLC managed to make it onto our consoles; but, somehow, it has. The Doctor Who Cloned me is the second piece of DLC for DNF, and the first that expands the single player campaign. All that makes Duke special is here, but the developers have obviously learned their lessons from the mess that was the original game’s campaign. Fans of Forever, and Duke in general, would do well to check this expansion out.
Velocity Gamer: An old school aspect of The Last of Us has us questioning why so many good ideas from the old days are abandoned.
Uncharted is a perfect example of going the wrong way and giving you LESS gameplay (platforming that isn't platforming, making "cinematic" gameplay that isn't gameplay at all), so excuse me if i laugh at Naughty Dog pretending they have any ground to stand on.
"It’s true we didn’t completely leave the practice behind as it has remained a staple of survival games so perhaps we shouldn’t be too surprised that The Last of Us will use the tried and true mechanic of the old days but it does raise questions about what is and is not acceptable as gaming moves forward under."
Holy crap use punctuation because it's very annoying to read things that sound like they are being spoken by a ten year old like this for example.
Outdated is a term I think critics use too much as "get out of jail free" card when it comes to description of video games mainly because too many people have a misconception of proper gaming evolution. Most gamers this generation believe that in order for a game to "evolve" it must start from scratch in making the new installment which throws the away a game's identity on the whole.
For a game to truly improve isn't just by getting ridding of the flaws of the previous titles but improving on the strengths of them as well. A structural foundation is required in order for a true next level experience to be attained which means creating a hybrid of both old and new methods.
Developers are focusing way too hard on grabbing from other companies' fanbases and reaching for the "Bieber" crowd instead of looking for ways of making their game stand out more on it's own two feet which results in so many games genre-swapping and so many comparisons to others.......
Regenerating health can burn in hell for all I care. So glad Resistance 3 went back to health packs. More games should follow.
Last week the community went very vocal about the lack of games being released on the service, and it seems just in time OnLive has released some solid games to the service. Whether or not tonight’s releases are enough to please disgruntled users is for you to decide. Tonight Space Pirates and Zombies, Pro Evolution Soccer 2012, and Duke Nukem add-on pack “The Doctor Who Cloned Me” are available for purchase on the service.
There is a new add-on, that will be arriving on the OnLive service for Duke Nukem Forever next week. OnLive’s community manager, Matt Jensen announced today that next week “The Doctor Who Cloned Me” DLC will be arriving on the cloud gaming service in the form of an add-on.
Don't know why DNF got so much hate... I personally found the game really enjoyable. All of the random things you can do just make it fun to search around levels. I mean I spent like 20 minutes just sitting there playing pool near the beginning of the game.
I actually liked it too.. don't know, maybe people were expecting that game will be like Avatar movie? :D
Yeah, I loved DNF. Can't wait to download this.
First piece of major DLC I've got for my PS3. I don't regret it either, it's a pretty good piece of DLC, not many developers bother with single player content these days (aside from RPGs). Equal amounts of shooting and driving, better humour, story continues right from the end of DNF, took me and evening or two go get through.
