Joystiq : The third-person witchcraft of Sorcery

I didn't feel like a magician, sorcerer, witcher, or warlock after playing through a combat demo of Sony's PlayStation Move-exclusive game, Sorcery, at a recent NYC press event. I wasn't sure how I felt, actually. The game didn't leave a huge impact on me, and perhaps that's telling as Sorcerydoesn't seem to be remarkably deep or impressive, as much as it is fine.

Certainly the most negative preview i've seen. The others have seemed encouraging.

Joystiq are complete Kinect fanboys, they gave:

Fruit Ninja 90%
Child of Eden 100%
The Gunstringer 100%

...I think it's obvious that they're biased (or influenced somehow) because this is way above average for these games. In fact, they're anomalies and no one would agree that these are perfect games.

I never visit joystiq anymore, what's the point, their previews/reviews are BS IMO.

They've certainly gone downhill dramatically since the ps3fanboy.com days.

I see his points. After seeing some gameplay from Kotaku and reading that the campaign was only 6 hours long I think the game could use some changes. I'm still definitely gonna buy it though. The concepts are really cool. Especially combining spells. But (from the demo at least) I can't really see the point of doing it other than it looks cool. Also, there is no mp gauge to force people to use spells wisely. I'd hate to see it just devolve into a run-and-flick game.

But we'll see. I still have hopes for it.

I think what is mainly going to be special about this game is how it incorporates the usage of Move into gameplay.

When first many were excited to to see the "shake and drink" movements for creating a potion. Likely because every little movement was done within the game at the same time as the player's movements.

Edit:
I forgot to add...the colour of the ball changed to the colour of the potion's colour. It also changes according to the spell you have equipped!
