I just noticed that this is in japan. Thats crazy. We can no longer predict anything over there when it comes to games. Next week the sales will probably slow for Assassins Creed. I think thats Alot of the Americans in Japan who are buying it(think Military).

I never thought of Assassin's Creed appealing to the Japanese but it does have alot of open living breathing world aspects the Japanese like(could it be a culturally default win for Ubi?, this hero is simular to a popular Japanese icon(Assassin with god like skillz). It has already gotten praise from Japanese elites one dude praised it for its attention to detail which means * you can do lots of things * basiclly either in quest "generally speaking" or physiclly.

I thought KUF/COD was releasing this month too?.

It's true that SMG has been out in Japan longer than AC but Wii / Nintendo games usually stay in top 10 for months in Japan.
Also, let's not forget that AC is a western developed game, for Xbox 360, in Japan. Not many Japanese gamers don't show much love to western games or 360 games but they are actually buying AC and it managed to outsell SMG.

I don't know if you noticed but this article is about games and the numbers you posted are about consoles... just in case you didn't noticed... on yeah... 3rd party developers make games off selling games, not console... with how little the xbox 360 installbase is in Japan... no xbox 360 games should be on the top 50.

IMO, 75%+ of those Assasin's Creed sales came from the thousands of U.S. military forces that are stationed there and not neccesarily from the Japanese.

Military people buy the American version of games (not Japanese) at their base PX, which counts in North American sales and incidently, usually provide a discounted price (no taxes or tariffs).

nah, just kiddin', just kiddin' yes the DS is kicking the sh!t out the competition, and not only in Japan!, but we like to overlook Ninty and talk about the toys for the big boys, now seriously who expected AC on the 360 do so well?, its a western game in Japan, but then again those 360 owners in Japan likely brought the 360 because of its western appeal, anyway its not "OMG" news, just a bit of positive news for 360, no need for hate from sonykids looking for any excuse to downplay even the slightest good news, I have friends in the military and they buy their games on from the local base stores or order them online, because Japanese version games rarely play on their American consoles and also base px stores are cheaper.
